Hi!
Do you know anyone who would like to have an au pair?
My daughter is tired of school and wants to do something else for a while. She has always LOVED Australia and would very much like to live there for a while. So...we were thinking that may be working as an au pair could be a way.
She is 17 years old, loves children, and is very responsible. And of course she is very nice (hey, she is my daughter, right? (joke for those of you who know me in person))
If you know someone - or have some other idea how she could go there (maybe some other work if possible? She'd do almost any work) - could you please tell us? Maybe listen around if someone knows of an opportunity for her?
I don't know much people from Australia so don't know whom to ask...hopefully someone here can help us out
Take care,
/Karin

Hi Karin,
I'm heading for Australia in a few days time. Its my 28th Anniv and 3rd honeymoon holiday with New Zealand thereafter.
I have seen two documentary from both the BBC and in cooperation with an Australian Production company focussing foreign labour, targeting several British families who recently emigrated & young singles trying out a new lifestyle, quite the opposite to what their British forefathers had to go there for.
Unless she is "Sponsored", and with correct documentation being processed, the chances of success and being allowed on an AuPair basis is rather remote.
The only way in and legally with no Immigration objections is to go in as a tourist with enough cash to last a decent stay for two weeks under the guise as a tourist and while there, do lots of research with local AuPair Agencies stacked with vacancies (many R usually from Phillipines and Sri Lanka) and get to move about where the similar age group hangs about at social places.
She must however, NOT ever be tempted to work, even for an hour's trial or she'll NEVER ever get into Australia again.... if the Authorities somehow gets to know about it. Even when she has safely returned to Sweden and nothing that appears wrong took place. For if someone had to submit some record or reference showing she was involved and being paid for it, its OVER with future prospects when you next apply for a Visa.
Make reliable contacts willing to help and fly back home and start the application with the Australian Embassy in your country for thats the way to go about it.
I wish you guide her well and not let her chances and future prospects be ruined by reckless decisions.
You can Google plenty on Australia, nice place to be if the right city is chosen.
ATB.... to you and daughter

Hi!
Thanks for your reply:)
I know that for au pair ("demi pair" in Australia) she has to study also, but if she studies and works as an au pair (20 hours each/ week) there's a special kind of visa they can get. But ok, no other kinds of jobs then...

In such a situation, its still better to consult with the Embassy or Consulate for they are most welcoming to the opposite gender and with proper Institutions involved which guarantees proper managing of her stay. If the Authorities/Immigration are satisfied, all is well then.
It may take a little more than three months to get things sorted out but time flies... Good luck!!!!
