This is just a reminder so that anyone in this area, and I'd imagine other areas as well, that the variety of denoms is drying up so when you order, just plan on ordering in multiples of 25,000. (i.e. - 300,000 and not 310,000)

    Have a good one ya'll.
It has always been the same up here in the Dallas/FTW area too. All my freinds have always ordered as well as I in those increments of 25,000's. Have always ordered small too. Not one time has any of my Freinds or I, recieved anything but 25,000 notes. Now I have heard of some getting those smaller at time of Purchase. But that is because of some other person exchanging them back in. They were on hand at the time of Purchase. This is why I use Iraq dinars Dinar Trade to get the smaller ones when I wanted them.

    Hi all,
I remember somewhere on our club that it was said. If you went to an international airport, you would be given a straight exchange. No % taken out ? Or was this just talk at the time, it was way back before Dec. 2006. They would give you a check and you took that to the bank.....could someone help me out here .....
I would rather drive 4 hours to the airport, then four hours to a new bank and get the shaft.

    Thanks..

I found something on another site that confirm chases involvement with iraq banks!

Licenses are required for anyone to open a bank in Iraq. Under CPA Order #40 the number of foreign bank licenses was limited to six with limitations on ownership of private banks, but this requirement was rescinded on June 7, 2004 by CPA Order #94. There is now no legal limit on the number of licenses that can be granted to foreign banks. Following a request for applications issued in November 2004, Iraq received fifteen applications for a foreign bank license. Originally, the Central Bank Governor announced the three licenses to be awarded – The Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and Standard Chartered Bank both from the U. K. and the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK). Later the Arab Banking Corporation of Bahrain was also granted a license. Most recently, HSBC purchased a majority share in the Iraqi private bank, Dar Es Salaam and has begun operations.

Trade Bank of Iraq and International Financial Institutions
Iraq’s state banks are not yet in a position to do business abroad due to their insolvency and technical inefficiencies. Yet, trade finance and short-term credit was recognized early as essential to the growth of trade in Iraq. For this reason, the CPA established the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) as a separate Iraqi government entity and export credit agency to facilitate the import and export of a variety of goods and services to and from Iraq. The TBI (Trade Bank of Iraq - Your Trade and Investment Partner in Iraq) provides expertise and a point of contact within Iraq for international firms. More importantly, it provides trade financial services that other Iraqi institutions are currently unable to offer in order to bolster the confidence of suppliers that payment will be received for the delivery of their goods and services. The TBI works with Iraqi commercial banks and the operating consortium, which is a group of international banks led by J.P. Morgan Chase. As of September 1, 2005, the TBI had issued 1740 Letters of Credit to 66 different companies, totaling over $6.52 billion. The TBI is discussed in detail in CPA Order #20. (CPA Iraq)

    Cool Thank You.

I tried to tell everyone that Chase does not get from BofA. They have their own Holding in Iraq. I thought it was in Jordon. But thanks for this piece. Now I know too it is Iraq directly.

Cause that is the Bike trip I was, and still am going to do. I am ordering more 1ks to accomplish this. I have just heard that the airports give checks (cashers) but I have not comfirmed that. If OSW see's this I know he will comment here as I know he has stated that he exchanges at the airports in the past when traveling different countries. I have just not pressued this yet cause of the waiting. But have never changed my plan totally.

    Good question,

Whenever I exchange at airports the rates are obviously dependent on current rates, and these factor in spread or fees which are very little, so technically, whatever the published rate is, you get cash exchange, unless of course you are exchanging for larger amounts, then it would be questionable as they would not usually have a million in cash onhand. lol

    Good luck to all, Mike
