Survival knives

Personally, the survival knives are one of my most favorite knives. As the name suggests the respective knives are used as tools for survival. People who mostly carry these knives are either hunters or hikers or could be the outdoor sports fans.
Basically it is the knife for anybody who may find themselves lost in the woods. The survival knives are mostly thicker than the regular knives owing to the reason that say if you get lost in the woods then you can use this knife for hunting. For those who are the kind to keep survival kits, they tend to go for smaller knives that are lighter in weight too so that they can save some room for other things in the survival kit that may come in handy if need arises.
The respective survival knives had not been in the picture until the beginning of this century. Prior to their advent men had used knives that looked like butcher knives if they were not that in the first place. It had been that way until a man who had been named Webster Marbles had come up with the idea of making a knife that would have a heavier blade. They made cross guards and also pommels. These knives resemble the Bowie knife.
Later on in the WWII the Survival knives had been allocated to the aircraft crews, planes and also helicopters. The reason had been that in case if they get shot down and hence get stuck in the respective plane or the craft then they could to cut their way through the canopy.
What’s more the navy had also included them in their standard survival kits. After a while the military had tried killing two birds with the same stone by coming up with bayonets that were surprisingly similar to the survival knives. Hence the bayonet could be used both as a field knife and also as a bayonet that could be attached to the muzzle of a rifle. It was indeed a very good idea.
The survival knife has numerous features. Several of these are made up in such a way that they come with a serration on their back side. The purpose behind is to cut though the thin metal. Some of these knives have some with a hollow hand that can come in handy as a place to keep things such as the matches or the first aid kits. They became very popular post the release of Rambo first blood. This move had resulted in a huge demand for these kinds of style knives.
There are numerous examples of these fixed blade survival knives. Plus there are several other knives as well that are also considered as survival knives. These are multipurpose knives that can be used from cutting to putting them around your neck.
