The cleaning service industry has boomed, largely due to the financial strife we are all experiencing. Commercial cleaning services are up to their ears in clients because a lot of offices and other business establishments have decided that outsourcing their cleaning needs would save them money in employment and equipment. Maid services are also very busy because a lot of homeowners do not have the time to clean their own houses since they work two or more jobs.
If you have decided to start your own cleaning service- whether commercial, residential, or in a more specialized field like carpet cleaning- the competition is already quite stiff. There are more and more cleaning services popping out everyday. That is why you will need to come up with new ways on getting clients to hire you and how to keep them in your list of loyal customers.
The one thing that clients look for in a cleaning service provider is quality. Quality can be interpreted in a lot of ways.
The first is whether you turn out quality cleaning. Clients expect that you will do a professional cleaning job and you should meet their standards, if not exceed them. Little things like missing spots on the glass or mirror may cost you one client less. Try to always clean your customer’s spaces to the best of your abilities. This is why you shouldn’t take on more clients than you ca handle. If you service too many clients in a day, you are bound to lose your concentration because of exhaustion, physically and mentally.
Another way of keeping your clients is through quality service. This is different from quality cleaning; this is about your decorum when handling and talking to your customers. It is important that you always present yourself in a professional manner. Always keep a smile on your face, even (especially) when you are tired. If you are too exhausted to converse with your customers, then it would be much better to put it off until the morning. Also, always keep yourself and your tools and equipment clean and hygienic-looking (and smelling too!). A big turn off to clients is a cleaning service provider that does not even look like he could keep himself and his own things neat.
Quality service can also be seen in the way you handle your business. Always try to be as organized as you possibly can. Clients would appreciate if you can come for a look-see of the space you are hired to clean before the actual job itself. This way, you can discuss your plan to the home owner or the office manager. This also allows the house owner or the office manager to tell you about the specifics of the cleaning job they hired you for. Make sure that you take note of everything that was discussed and have it formally acknowledged by the person who has hired you. When the day of the cleaning actually arrives, follow what you have talked about and the client will call for you again.
