Your daycare center will be a busy area once you open your doors for business. This is why you need to create a working plan before you start your daily operations. Having kids around would definitely create pandemonium in your center, and the trick to keeping your business area as organized as physically possible; you will need to be prepared with a scheme that will put most of the daily activities and your daycare center equipment in place.
If you plan on having children in different age groups, it would be best to keep them apart most of the time. It would be hard for you and the other care providers in your center if you have to look after the kids who can run and the kids who can only toddle at the same time. If you have limited space, the technique is to create a schedule that centers on the activity rooms you have created. All of the areas can be common to the children regardless of age group. However, except for the cabinets or closets for their stuff, the children should be in the different areas at different times.
The play room is where the children stay when playing with toys that cannot be brought for outside play. Usually, the play room houses all of your day care center toys but you can of course choose to keep some in storage to prevent all the toys from being damaged all at the same time. Also, if your play room is occupied by the younger kids, you should keep the toys for older kids out of reach. Toys should be labeled according to the age of the child that can safely play with it. For example, toys with small parts are meant for older children who have learned not to taste, swallow or put things inside their ears and noses.
The quiet room is one of the areas that can at some point be occupied by all your day care center kids; nap time. However, if you have babies who need a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere, it would not be wise to keep them in the same room as others. The quiet room can also be a place to read to the kids or have them read or browse through books on their own.
The kitchen is a busy place too. If you plan on serving meals in your facility, take care to have a separate kitchen that the children will not be able to enter. This off-limits kitchen is where you do all your preparations for the meals. A common kitchen and dining area can be set up where the kids can eat their snacks or keep the food their parents have let them bring. Additionally, cooking lessons can interest any child and a kitchen which has low tables can encourage kids to prepare their own food like sandwiches and no cook pastries.
Creating different spaces for various activities in your day care facility will surely help you organize your center. This way, you will truly enjoy caring for your day care center kids, less the trouble.
