Stocks continued their rise today pushing energy stocks higher, the dollar continued its fall helping commodities rise. Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 18 points, the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.64 point and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 4 points to 1,076.14. Bond prices were unchanged, the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note stayed at 3.38 from Friday, crude oil prices rose $1.50 to $73.27 per barrel as gold rose $8.90 to $1,057.50

Stocks fell today as investors showed some concerns over inflation problems. Johnson & Johnson said that it earned $3.35 billion, or $1.20 a share, in the third quarter slightly better than the $3.31 billion, or $1.17 a share, it earned in the same quarter of last year, analysts expected $1.13 per share. Goldman Sachs was moved into the neutral territory after being the share to buy, Sachs' advisors said investors should take profit after the stock doubled since March, shares of the company fell $3.78, or 1.9%, to $186.49 after the news was released. Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 11 points, Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.75 point and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index shed 2 points to 1,073.20. Bond prices rose, the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell to 3.31 from 3.38 Monday, crude oil prices rose $0.88 to $74.15 per barrel as gold rose $7.50 to $1,065.00.
