I need some eBay advice. Today I received 2 emails fro "eBay" that I'm sure they are false. First they went to an email account that isn't even registered with eBay and they went to the junk mail folder by chance I checked that folder. The first email is calling me a deadbeat and they are going to report me for not paying an item. I have no idea what the item is and I know I haven't purchased anything.
The second email is telling me that I am the high bidder on an item but every email I've received calls me by my username this email just says Dear user and then states the winning bid.
I've reported both email to eBay. I hope they will get in touch with me and tell me what is going on. I never clicked on any of the links in the emails.
This happening to anyone else?

Don't worry, its probably just people trying to get your personal info. I got one a while back saying I won an item or something like that, just deleted it immdiately.

It's called "phishing", and you were very smart to not click on the links! Also, it was good that you reported them to Ebay!

Happens all the time.
Just keep reporting to eBay. This goes to show once again, be careful when clicking on links in emails. Make sure they are from a friend or family member. If from a site you usually do business with, log in as usual. Do not use links.

Asolutely DO NOT click on ANY links in those e-mails! They will not send you to Ebay..It will LOOK like Ebay but, wont be..Best thing to do is to forward those suspicious e-mails to : [email protected] ..Do not change the subject or anything, just hit 'forward' then type in the TO: block [email protected] then hit send.
They need the emails fowarded to them intact as you recieved it so they can press legal matters on the purpetrators of the 'phishing' sites.
Also, if you get a suspicious e-mail claiming to be from PayPal do the same thing. Forward it to [email protected]
Cheers

Thank you Parrot for I see this as an integral part of life today with as much warnings and guidance proven to help each other.
I shall have this as Sticky, so many can find it as a useful reference to be assisted from the "spoof" links devulged by fellow members here. I may have to amend the title after this.

What to Do!!
Can anyone give me some information as to what I can do to report emails that come from people spamming me with sex things...You try to remove them from the removal link and that never works...isn't there a way you can send it back to the company that they are using? Any help will be greatly appreciated...thanks again, Gerry

THe best thing you can do is to get a junk email filter if you dont already have one. Otherwise, just delete the emails as soon as they come into to your inbox.

Thats right Gerry, curiosity kills the cat and if you wish to rid the menace, simply IGNORE and DELETE the "intruder"!!! He won't know what hit him, unless you confirm a "feedback", just what they need to register to give ya another night with nightmares.... goodluck!
