    Default plumbing problem

Trouble in the basement laundry room....washing machine floor drain is not keeping up with the draining water even on a small load. The downstairs toilet and shower are all fine, upstairs all is draining as well. Last couple of laundry loads would have caused a small flood if I hadn't run down to shut off the washer (have a water sensor alarm near the drain). My question...would this just be an issue right at the laundry drain or would it be further down the line outside ie tree roots.....and is there something I can do right at the drain, like liquid drano or use a toilet auger (would have to buy). thanks for any input.

It sounds like your laundry drain is partly blocked. Since the other drains in your house are fine, the problem is likely right at the laundry drain. You can try a liquid drain cleaner, but it might only help for a short time. A toilet auger could work if the blockage isn't too far down the pipe. Sometimes, tree roots can cause problems further down, but that's usually a last resort. If the problem keeps happening, you might need professional help. For example, blocked drains Brisbane services are known for fixing these problems well. Good luck!
