    Backdraft - that's great!

I just noticed something interesting. On the Bank Negara website, it states they are closed for Christmas.... now Malaysia is a Muslim country, yet even they are celebrating Christmas. Just goes to show that the PC *****s in the UK and US have got it all completely wrong.

In fact, we could learn a lot from Malaysia. They are predominantly Muslim, with a very large Buddhist and Hindu population, too. Rather than segregating, they all celebrate all the holidays and festivals and as a result live in a fairly harmonious society.

    nej,
yes u are right that malaysia is a muslim country and they have buddhist, christian, islamic and hindu festivals as official holidays. this is what i call politically correct - respecting everyone.

u know, malaysia has more decorations than where im from (gold coast, australia). maybe the first world nations can learn from a developing country about religious freedom and understanding.

it's so great to see that people from all religions celebrate the religious holidays together WITHOUT being offended. one would have to be a real loser to be offended by well wishers.

    Exactly right.

I was in KL a few years ago just before Xmas, and was amazed at decorations everywhere, etc. I wasn't expecting it al all.

Yes it sure is Yhlc and to Nej too from across the pond I believe....

I can relate to that cosmopolitan community being one myself that grew up among the more affluent "Brit Bunch" in my early toddle years and later looking back and found how harmonising the Asian environment seems to get when one trails away into the open mixture of other ethnic and religious entities both in culture and social setups.

I recall, the Grand Hyatt hotel is one of the main highlights of glamour, sparkle and attraction with lots of entertainment to cater to locals surrounding it's immediate vicinity...Christmas is always a week of joy and excitement mingled with various participants including Aussies, Kiwis, and tourists from all over the world!!!

What those politicians with their screwy agendas have in mind after every Sunday mass they attend to, beefs up with screwball suggestions and arguments on the switch to the "Holidays" term or any other other than Christmas is deplorable....

I find celebrating Christmas as much as my Muslim friends celebrating their day after Ramadan or Hari Rayah Puasa... just as warm and fulfilling to maintain social harmony which can only deliver Peace to us all with genuine co-habitation and integration for a better world.

    Merry Christmas guys...!!!
