I'm trying to work out the lowest price in time for summer.
Surely between us we could find the answer.

It's an auction in reverse! the lowest unique bid wins the Mercedes clk. It's a bit of fun with an ace prize if you are lucky enough to guess the the lowest bid

Find a world currency; one that is traded on the international exchanges. Find the lowest valued one and then bid "one" in the lowest denomination that currency is available in...

The "lowest" unique bid...How did I misunderstand? Lowest would mean smallest possible amount to pay, right? Why wouldn't it be the lowest denomination of the smallest unit of an international currency? If I'm still missing the point, please help me out with a more detailed explanation...

and since you can't really THINK it out (because it could be any number) you might as well use a fun way to come up with a random number. (Like EW is suggesting)
