[quote=fredgwest1999;198592]My point was against slow growth and a larger, initial RV as to readjust a pegged rate is time consuming and hard to do...as we have seen going into this RV...
So (IMO) that rate will come in high...maybe at the Chase rate that they initially offered Neno last week (remember .26 or $3.82/Dinar)
The only way slow growth works is to remain outside the IMF and/or introduce the new rate as a float...
Sorry if I wasn't clear![/quote
what bank was that and where that offered neno that?

I am sorry if I was confusing re: Tony Blair. He plans on Thursday May 10 to announce his retirement. He will count down the 50 days. I was more focused on the timing of his real announcement as it relates to Iraq and the RV and FIL etc.
Wouldn't it be great if Tony Blair could address the world and make a statement that he has fulfilled his commitments to get Iraq back on its feet and therefore he is comfortable with stepping down ...Last edited by inquisitive1; 09-05-2007 at 04:45 PM.

Iraqi parliamentarians disagree over postponing summer holiday
By Santa Michael
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Baghdad, 09 May 2007 (Voices of Iraq)
Print article Send to friend
Iraqi parliamentarians disagreed over the nature of the request made by U.S. President George W. Bush for the Iraqi parliament to postpone its summer holiday until all necessary laws and regulations are passed. Some parliamentarians described the request as "unreasonable and unacceptable," others said that it is only an "advice," while a third group indicated that the issue "only concerns the Iraqi parliament."
MP Mahmoud Uthman from the Kurdistan Coalition, the second largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament with 55 seats out of 275, told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI), "We consider the U.S. request to postpone the parliament's holiday an unreasonable and unacceptable interference in our affairs."
Indicating that Iraqi parliamentarians know what is best for their country, in reference to a decision made by them last year to reduce their summer holiday to one month, Uthman said that no country has the right to interfere in the Iraqi parliament's affairs. Citing an imbalance in relations between the two countries, Uthman added, "The U.S. side acts unreasonably and interferes in all Iraqi matters."
Last year, a number of Iraqi politicians, intellectuals and ordinary people expressed their dissatisfaction with the parliament's two-month summer holiday, prompting parliamentarians to reduce it to one month.
Disagreeing with Uthman, MP Jabir Habib from the Shiite United Iraqi Coalition (UIC), which represents the largest bloc in the parliament with 113 seats, and Saleem al-Jubouri from the Iraqi Accordance Front (IAF), described Bush's request as "an advice and a wish."
Habib, a professor of political sciences, said, "I heard U.S. congressmen expressing their views during previous meetings that it is inappropriate for Iraqi legislators to go on vacation while U.S. troops are being killed in Iraq."
"I do not consider this an interference. No one from outside Iraq can impose his own vision," Habib indicated, adding that the Iraqi parliament is aware of the interests of the Iraqi people and the current circumstances.
According to Habib, there is a tendency in the parliament to prolong its working season by 30 days and take a one-month holiday. Under section 2, article 58 of the Iraqi constitution, the parliament is permitted to extend its sitting for no more than 30 days when the necessity arises and at the request of the Iraqi president, prime minister, the house speaker or 50 members of parliament.
Adopting a similar stance to Habib's, al-Jubouri said, "Bush's request was not made in a commanding tone. It was a request and I believe it was meant to give advice."
Al-Jubouri, who is a member of parliament's legal committee, said that he supports the reduction of the parliament's holiday in the light of the uncertain security situation in Iraq.
Meanwhile, Ali al-Dabbagh, the spokesman for the Iraqi government, said that the issue of the parliament's holiday should be settled by Iraqi parliamentarians, denying the existence of any governmental or foreign pressure on the parliament in this regard.
The IAF, including three major Sunni groups: the Iraqi Islamic Party, the Iraqi People's Congress and the Iraqi National Dialogue Council, is the third largest bloc in the parliament, with 44 seats.
