Interesting. The target (correct me if I'm wrong; there are so so many variables) to comply with IMF agreements was 1260. The agreement was one of those three or four letter abreviations (sdr?). Sometimes it seemed like we'd never get there. Not on anyone's scheduled predictions except moneybags maybe. So here we are; again proving stability. And awaiting debt forgiveness. Looks like the ISX will be open for business before all possible debt forgiveness has been completed. I am meaning foreign investment, most of us, I think, felt an adjustment in dinar value would be necessary before enactment.

It doesn't seem to be a priority of the Iraqi government to help their own people. Plenty of news articles about this and that, but no immediate relief.
Reminds me of what I heard during our last two bad hurricanes, when people were pleading for help, however, OUR gov. got it together after a relatively short time. The mentality of the Iraqi's and the corruption involved just put the welfare of the people way down on the list.

So really, with all the information we have, and factoring in the psycology
of the Iraqi's (as we know it)(they are in charge, but they aren't. They must appease certain entities to acquire the status they have been told they should have), what kind of timeline are we looking at here? And are imports really necessary if the big dogs get their needs taken care of?

Just curious...how can the debt be done? The 3rd phase of the Paris Club debt relief is contingent upon the SBA final review, which is not due until September. However, there are indications that the CBI will ask for another extension.

cancellation phasing
First Reduction : cancellation of 30 % of the debt stock as of the date of the signature of the agreement
Second Reduction : cancellation of 30 % of the initial debt stock as soon as an Arrangement with the IMF in the upper credit tranches is approved, implemented on December 23, 2005.
Third Reduction : cancellation of 20 % of the initial debt stock as soon as the last review of an Agreement with the IMF in the upper credit tranches is approved. payment of non-consolidated amounts before June 01, 2005
