I hear you - seems like they can't tippy-toe around it much longer without stepping on it!

That's what I was getting at with the previous article about the decline of the dollar and the fact that Kuwait has set the precedent - it's in Iraq's best interest to peg to a basket of currency, rather than just the dollar. The dollar has declined 10% in the past year, while the dinar change according to Socata is somewhere above 14% I believe, which gives them only a 4% increase in purchasing power. Seems like spitting into the wind as far as a method of controlling their double-digit inflation.

I don't know if Kuwait determined their own 'basket' composition or the SDR rate, though I remember seeing reference that their basket was 75% dollar. I wouldn't spend a lot of time checking on the SDR rate unless you are just interested in it; unfortunately it won't give us any clues as to what the GoI might do.
Pegging to the SDR basket might be the most stable approach for setting the exchange rate. Suddenly referencing SDR has some bearing. If they use historical levels then we might be looking at 2.53 SDR. SDR= 1.48 USD hmmm I could live with $3.74 how about evryone else?
It seems that the state insists, or preserve the value of the Iraqi dinar 148 against the dollar ...Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states [ MOF Sept 2006]

a few who have gathered for almsot 2 years have thought that pegged to the SDR would be a strong possiblity but it was only a thouhgt not a rumor just good old fashion thinking

"if they were smart this would be the best thing to peg to". Guess time will tell how smart the group is, ahead of the curve for sure

Is there clouds or is there just a lack of compassion for those who like up to date news and can't tell the difference?

My best guestimate is this article is related to 1 June 2007

    Smile!
some other countries use the day/month/year when they reference the date whereas americans use the month/day/year. iraq is one of the countries that dates different than we do hence why some of these articles are dated as such. they arent posted like that to confuse people, they are simply copy/pasting the articles as they are.
    JULY STILL AINT NO LIE!!!
