Foreign Investment Law
Hi,
I am sorry but I dont understand- I was under the impression that the Investment Law was passed back in October of last year, are you saying this is not the case, I thought it was just that the Stock Exchange had to get geared up and then it was all systems go.

Foreign Investment Law
Hi It was stated everywhere that the FIL was passed in October and we have discussed it many times since, whether it has been enacted or not I dont know(anybody know)as I have stated previously what is the advantage of not revalueing, even an ***** as me can work it out that this would kick start the economy and solve a lot of the problems overnight for the poor people of Iraq, if any of you decision makers in Iraq are reading this forum as it is rumoured, COME ON AND EXPLAIN YOURSELVES, what are you waiting for. We have had some very good rumours lately especially from RR and BigJase1, strange that it appears to have gone extremely quiet since Sunday, what is going on, any news from your contacts in London and China BigJase1, whatever info we are getting they appear to do the opposite. It was stated some weeks ago that the Stock Exchange would be open to electronic trading within 60 days from approx that date (any recollection as to when that was and how far to go, (I have sent an e-mail to the stock exchange asking how long to go, but doubt whether i will get an answer).

Facts suggest that no laws have been passed and enacted. I seriously doubt if anyone has any inside info but each to their own really. The thought of an overnight RV should have been history by now. If it was that easy, Iraq would have done it by now given the soaring inflation and the economic hardships prevalent in Iraq. There is the question of reserves, et cetera to consider. Or else any struggling country could revalue instantly.

Thanks for your kind suggestion. Seeing that you are much more versed in matters pertaining to Iraqi laws, maybe you could enlighten all of us on the Pensions?Retirement Law, the HCL (Not to be mistaken with the Olive Oil Law!), the FIL, et al...Thank you in advance for your time...

Unless you can prove otherwise, there is no proof to suggest that laws have been passed and enacted. The HCL is a long way from completion. The Oil Workers Union have called off their strike alright but are vehement with their demands to be part of the negotiations for the draft OIL law. This, in my opinion, could set things back even further. The Iraqi Sadrists have suspended their parliamentary participation. No quorum, no laws, nothing. As for the rest of them, it's been fairly quite on the news front. Thanks for the discussion.
