Hard to believe the few members that stick around don't voice an opinion on this... The other day I read something that made me start to think what if the US is doing this purposely...letting the dollar drop. What made me think of this has to do with the trade export with china we have been pressuring China to Revalue the Yuan for sometime ...this may have something to do with it...OSW care to chime in im sure you explain what im talking about

Interesting,
No matter how many ways I look at the declining dollar situation, I cannot see this as a good thing in the long term as it undermines what little faith was left in the dollar, and that is not good.
Yes, there will be some short term benefits for those companies involved in export from China and other nations, but the weak dollar will only benefit a small percentage of companies, and not the consumer, so this will only add to inflation as I see it which will further hurt the economy for the little people.
I expect the dollar to continue its slide down, especially with the feds once again dropping the rates which should hit the dollar for another big drop in value as it has in the past. Seems the feds are caught between a rock and a hard place and I see no way out at this time, so who knows, maybe the dollar is already dead, and what we are seeing is the slow death version, while the powers to be have already killed it. (g)
Good luck and health to all, Mike

This is political BS not research or reality. The date for the Iranian Oil Bourse has come and gone many times. Think about it folks. The US dollar is the only currency in the world with the volume to support international oil trade. The Euro couldn't come close. Maybe the Yuan in another 20 years but it's pegged to the dollar so count that one out.
If you want facts read Russel Simmons "Twilight in the Desert".
Peak oil is real. This is crap.

Interesting,
Iran already announced they are no longer accepting the dollar for oil, so I suggest you research it a little further before saying it is BS. As to peak oil comment, once again, you are not correct. Peak oil refers to the current major oil countries which are indeed all in decline, but then again, you wouldn't know it unless you were tied in with oil industry as this is obviously something the Saudi's, Kuwaiti's, VZ and Iran don't want to slip out. They purged all outsiders from within oil industry years ago to keep it quiet, so peak is a reality in middle east.
Just look at the Saudi's and Kuwaiti's, in particular, they are buying up companies all over the world, never mind investing in building hotels, office buildings, luxury home developments, etc. dumping billions into infrastructure preparing for the day oil is no longer flowing like it has over the past decades. Everyone in industry knows peak is real as these experts have charted this for years, so by all means, show us your proof there is no peak oil.

Interesting,
Regarding peak oil, Russia is in serious decline and it is no longer a secret as they are trying to make deal with Iraq, and using the debt owed for leverage as they are still not committing to forgive debt. Sure is interesting what is going on as all the declining oil reserve countries are looking to Iraq. I suspect the same is true with all middle east oil countries, they are all in severe decline, and this trend is well documented by insiders in industry, so I think Iraq will see an interesting turn around once the security, along with oil law are no longer an issue.
Happy Holidays to all, Mike
