Iraq, Kuwait may sign free trade agreement
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Burham Saleh and the new Kuwaiti Ambassador in Baghdad Ali Al-Momen yesterday discussed the possibility of setting up a joint free trade zone. News of the talks came in a press release from Saleh's office. "Kuwait's naming of its ambassador in Baghdad has many political indications as Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations are important. We have common interests and bonds binding us, so we will work together to resolve all outstanding issues and to bring views closer with patience and wisdom," said the release.
The time is ripe for burying the past and for looking optimistically and confidently at our distinguished current and future relations in the common interest of both countries and peoples," it continued.
During the meeting, the Iraqi official and Kuwaiti diplomat exchanged views on several significant issues, including a joint free trade agreement.
Last Wednesday, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani received the credentials of the new Kuwaiti ambassador to Iraq.
Meanwhile, Kuwait is determined to press ahead with close cooperation with brotherly Arab states to robustly confront "various security challenges," the interior ministry announced on Sunday.
The official spokesman of the ministry and the director of the security media department, Colonel Mohammad Al-Sabr, said in a statement, "There is no way for confronting the hazards threatening the region other than bolstering the Arab security cooperation and coordination.
Kuwait's participation in the annual meeting of the Arab police and security chiefs in Beirut on October 28-29 constituted a step forward on the path of bolstering the ties among the Arab interior ministries, Col. Al-Sabr said.
The Kuwaiti delegation, that would be headed by the assistant undersecretary for security and criminal affairs, would seek closer coordination with the Arab authorities for combating crime and terrorism, in line with guidelines of the top leaders, the ministry spokesman said.
He affirmed significance of the conference for bolstering the joint Arab efforts in the fight against crime, terrorism and narcotics. Kuwait is a member of the Arab League that groups more than 20 Arab countries and the six-seat Gulf Cooperaton Council.

US-Iraq pact and sovereignty
It seems that the Iraqi leaders have not yet paid much heed to the importance of the security agreement for US. The Americans feel that some Iraqi leaders have been deliberately hindering the negotiations.
They make use of Iraqi sovereignty issue as a pretext to show their reluctant. But the excuse of sovereignty is not so unyielding, because the leaders who have the sovereignty excuse are the same leaders who cooperated with the U.S and assumed high posts thanks to "invaders" or had their role in supporting the U.S. agenda.
The Americans in the ongoing negotiations sought to avoid the pretext of considering the deal an infringement on national sovereignty and retreated from most part of their demands. This move has stimulated further opposition from a number of critics in their attempts to cancel the agreement.
Among the fractions, the Shias are the most uncompromising and each time they take a different position in this regard.
The Shias hardly know how to introduce a balance between the ideological and political obligations in one hand and the regional pressures on the other.
Shias must know that all that they achieved since 2003 were through American support and whenever the Americans want they can strip them from all these achievements and earnestly turning to the Sunnis.
The current American administration feels that some sides inside and outside Iraq are coupling the passing of the pact with the American elections aiming at creating a circumstance that would be in the best interest of Obama.
The Americans also are not willing to return to the Security Council to extend the US troop presence in Iraq, because they are uncertain that they could get the approval of the Russians, especially since the emergence of the Georgian crisis as the US - Russian relations go through a very ill-starred stage.
The agreement has a lot of advantage for Iraq and expected to prevent any kind of internal and external threats over the coming three years. This move itself will be a vital one and the American will be able to promote their plan for another three years for balancing their interests. The agreement serves the interests of Iraq more than that of the American. But if they failed to sign the agreement, then no one could ever compensate the damages that will face Iraq and the situation may reach the extent of some dramatic changes that no one ever foreseen.

Economists: auctions central bank reduced the volume of investment
Economists warned the Iraqi Central Bank policy by the presentation of the dollar in the auction and sold less than its true value way for the withdrawal of liquidity from the market, which led to the disruption of the development of the country..Indicating that the causes of inflation
Not due to cash flow but because of structural imbalances and lack of investment ..The economic expert and professor of economics at the University of Mustansiriya Dr. Iyad Alwan said in a newspaper interview the present value of the Iraqi dinar compared to the value of the dollar as "Bekaz lifted and the central bank is a policy three years ago led to the disruption of overall development in the country when it adopted a policy based on the premise as inflation The result of cash .. reason, therefore, adherence to the principle of supporting the dinar's exchange rate more than its true value. "
The central bank has for some time for quite some time to withdraw cash from the Iraqi street, which is marked by the establishment of inflation auctions for the sale of foreign currency (dollar) .. almost daily, which was welcomed by some and criticized others .. as economists stressed that the procedure can be Limit and a significant proportion of the investment process in Iraq due to lift interest rates by the Iraqi Central ..
The Alwan to Amaaljpaltdkhm in Iraq by increasing domestic production, because the financial and monetary stability does not come only through spending on investment, pointing out that citizens miserable faces a sharp rise in prices without knowing the reasons for the increase and ways to address them.
Baghdad markets, which witnessed a continuous price rises after the government raised the prices of oil derivatives, which amounted .. inflation rates in many occasions more than 60 percent .. it, which some economists said would cause disaster to block economic reform, which seeks to Iraq, As well as the variance of inflation caused by the growth process could be paralyzed due to the increasing rates of inflation, especially over the past few months ..
Consistent member of Baghdad Chamber of Commerce with the view of the intransigence of Silwan expert Iyad Alwan, he said: The general rise in prices should not be seen from the perspective of exchange rate depreciation of the dollar only, because the consumer does not have any details on the economic process in his country, especially as they expected a decrease in the price level Commensurate with the rate of decline in the dollar exchange rate for the Iraqi dinar.
The dollar was quoted at auctions in the Central Bank of approximately 1,180 dinars, a figure much lower than it was two years ago or more, when the more than 2,500 dinars, but paradoxically, the devaluation of the dollar, with prices rising or .. which is of particularly surprising President currency trading the dollar is in Iraq ..
But the view of the intransigence of the need for citizens to consider all aspects of the process because the cost of imports from transport, power and security of increased commodity prices rather than a cause of decline as it is required to bear this result the Central Bank of Iraq.
The researcher economic policy of the economic as not based on a specific point in the direction of the future of the Iraqi economy, stressing that it is wrong to state intervention in setting prices at the same time moving towards free market policies and privatization.
He adds that the intervention would contradict their words, eight market competition can solve the issue of exchange rates rather than the central bank intervention the wrong way and the process..Baghdad markets suffer from a rise in overall prices of materials and goods which, as well as the high prices of some services as well as various kinds of transport .. It is the opposite of many statements that refer to low or low rates of inflation and of the officials at the Central Bank or the Ministry of Planning.
