Identify the features of a weak Iraqi economy

Select the features of a weak Iraqi economy has been its huge debts in the fall of 2002 about 125 billion dollars, 42 billion dollars to Paris Club countries have been resolved to give up on 80%, the reduction of per capita GDP of 4200 dollars in 1980 to nearly 300 dollars in nineties held this share rose to 630 dollars in 2004. The Director said the Commissioner of the Iraqi market for securities Taha Ahmed Abdul Salam, a specialist during the recent decline in Baghdad said the Iraqi dinar exchange rate of 3.3 dinars per dollar for 1980 to 2000 dinars to the dollar in 1995 , and 1450 dinars to the dollar in 2004 and now is the limits of 1117 dinars to the dollar are among the features and characteristics of the national economy at the present time.

Abdel-Salam said: the unemployment rate is very high limits of 30%, almost twice the rate of unemployment in the Middle East, and the number of Iraq's population of 27 million people, there are approximately 16 million are of working age, the population of working age are 6.7 million representing the labor force, and so the rate of contribution to the work force in Iraq are the limits of 40%, and the rate adopted by the Organization of European cooperation is 70%, noting that he and according to estimates by the WFP, some 16 million Iraqis (fewer than two thirds of the population ) will be fully dependent on food aid provided by the State within the agreed to call the ration-card system, which provides a basket of basic foodstuffs, which cost the state 4 billion dollars annually.

The Abdel-Salam: The agricultural sector is a small contribution compared to the gross domestic product, but it is a vital component in the Iraqi economy. The rapid growth in population over the past three decades, which limits the range 3.6% per annum and limited arable land and the general stagnation in agricultural productivity and the scarcity of water sources, has led to gradually increase reliance on imports to meet the local need of food, making Iraq to become a Chairman of the imported agricultural products. "A peace that most economic activity was affected in various ways since 2003 to stop the destruction and neglect, leading to high production cost and thus the high cost of life has emerged that is clearly in the consumer price index, which extended its winning streak, the proportions of annual for the period from 2003 2007 rapidly 2003 (33%), 2004 (26%), 2005 (36%), 2006 (53%), 2007 (30%), but decreased markedly in 2008 to become a high proportion (3%) only due to the security improvements that led to the regularity in the presentation of fuel, goods and services in the market, especially if we know that (30%) of any family's budget goes to energy consumption and burned.

He pointed out that the percentage contribution of the oil sector amounted to (56%) as a result of the decline of the contribution of other sectors of the economy and rising oil prices in global markets during the first half of 2008, noting the low rate of production of oil from (3.5) million barrels per day in 1979 to (2.00 ) million barrels per day in 2008.

In regard to the industrial sector has decreased its contribution to GDP as percentage (1.5%) in 2008 after what was the percentage (8%) in 1956.
