Default took this question from another forum. good question

china, israel and the us would nuke iraq if they pulled any crap like that. these 3 countries, and several others have purchased too much dinar

Just curious here lgl, did you see this in an article or is this something that you believe based upon some rumors you heard. I have been trying to find some concrete evidence that this is true, other than generalizations that I have seen posted.

I know that the Israeli government officially stated that it is ok for the citizens of Israel to invest in the dinar, much like our government said for U.S. citizens, but I have yet to see first hand information about any government stating that it has stockpiles of Iraqi currency. At this point I have taken that on blind faith, as it makes sense. Since, you seem to be fairly level headed I was wondering if you had any concrete info about this? How do you know?

China CNPC ready to revive Iraq oil deal if asked

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    BEIJING, 01 October 2006 (Reuters)
China National Petroleum Co. (CNPC) is ready to return to Iraq to develop an oilfield, reviving a deal signed in the Saddam Hussein period, if it is officially invited to do so, a company official said on Friday.

The official, who is familiar with the CNPC's overseas investments, said it was welcome news that Iraq wanted China to revive the defunct contract to develop the medium-sized Ahdab oilfield.

"We have not yet received an official invitation from Iraq. But if we do, we are happy to go back and develop the field," the official, who declined to be named, told Reuters.

"It is a project easy to develop as it's close to pipelines."

Iraq's oil ministry said on Wednesday that the minister, Hussain al-Shahristani, would visit China shortly and would discuss with Chinese companies the fulfilling of contracts signed with the former government.

CNPC, with state arms manufacturer Norinco (000065.SZ: Quote, Profile, Research) was awarded the contract to develop the 90,000 barrels per day Ahdab field in south central Iraq by Saddam. The project was effectively frozen by international sanctions and then by the toppling of his government by the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

The field was estimated to cost $700 million to develop.

The CNPC official said the company would be realistic about the chances of obtaining big oil and gas contracts with the pro-United States government of Iraq.

"It would be tough to compete with the Americans for major contracts. Let's be realistic," the official said.

While U.S. oil majors, excluded from Iraq before the U.S. invasion in 2003, are waiting for Baghdad to pass new laws on the sector before investing, Western oil company executives say Chinese firms are less concerned about having an investment law in place to protect them.

CNPC is the parent of PetroChina (0857.HK: Quote, Profile, Research)(PTR.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the world's fourth-largest oil and gas producer by market value.

ive seen our govt stash in a picture that mysteriously disappeared from the internet. got confirmation from a source the usa asked for 12B and was only given 7B.
ive read in the last few months where more than a country or two have purchased dinar recently. probably ive listed some here. check at iif for posts too.

this lends to the supposition that they are indeed going to begin taking in dinar for oil payments temporarily to give an instant market to the dinar until their economy recovers at which time they can transfer back to payment in usd.

if countries are buying dinar now that is great news for us, why would a government buy into a worthless currency.

if governments are investing in iraq (specifically their currency) it tells me they are expecting big things and soon!
