Perhaps they only want a table tennis room.

Agreed matey, there have been quite a few contracts, awards etc with figures attached to them banded about recently which sort of gets you thinking!

So, Neno can smell it too and way out there in the middle of the playground! Hummmm! With what I had heard on the NPR, a public radio station out of Atlanta, Georgia 90.1 FM (How is that for a site, eh?). They had a nice fellow on their radio station, talking about the sectarian violence and security measures. The first time a positive Iraqi view was given. NPR does like it when anyone starts putting up a "too" pleasant view of Iraq! The gentleman (with a heavy accent) stated that the Sunnis and the Shiites are "giving the peace process a go" from both the self-governmental and religious leaders on both sides to the little guys who tote those small arms!It will be great when they all start hugging more and stop fighting! I know the children would like the calm as well as all of those grandmothers!

Just some NPR thoughts with a little added flavor from the sniffers of the "rolclub" !

It makes you want to say hmmmmm but how much money did they have BEFORE we invaded and whats it being used on? I find it hard to beleve that defense companies would ink deals based off the current exchange rate of the dinar. if they did it with and the thought of a reval they they would have told the defense guy selling them equipment something and that should've leaked somewhere. however if they had they money before just collecting dust or if someone was giving them a loan ( on the basis of a later reval ) then that would make a little more sense. 700M is what a few trillion dinar ( more then they have printed ) they cant print more money. so it seems to me that they A. had the money off the books. B. told the defense contractors about a reval ( which is verifiable as im sure SOMEONE here knows a contract/budget analyst at rayth to ask ) or C. they borrowed the money from somewhere and told them about a later reval or traded off for oil

I strongly feel the rv will happen soon, for the following reason,One that I havent seen posted on rolclub or any other sight.I think in order to get any kind of security in Iraq, they will have to pay some of these insurgant groups off and the only way to do that is peg there dinar. These groups dont want worthless money.I still feel there are alot of Iraqis involved in the insurgancey. This would not by any means end the violence,But it would drastically reduce it.Face it there has been problems here in Iraq for a long time,I guess you can say it is a way of life for them. Just my thoughts.

Interesting thought, But there was a time long ago in their history that they were considered the center of civilization and Baghdad was knowen for its education, artists and poets. I agree with you that as their economy gets stronger and stronger security will get better and better everytime I think about this I really see Iraq being the next Dubai a world money center and one of the big boys in international trade JMO

I believe all these sales and investors posts with values of deals published that are simply we getting ready stories. Nothing has happened, yet getting things in place, planning, that's all, no transactions until the FIL and RV. MO

Jus to throw in another observation/question out there.

If discussions are taking place between the China Oil co. etc etc and the Iraqi's. wherby both parties are agreeing a price/value of a particular contract or sale, then both parties, ie. the contractor and the authorities in Iraq, must surely know what the rate of exchange is going to be, as and when the contract is signed and goes ahead?
