While I believe I understand the point you're trying to make, I think it's a bit presumptuous to think that politics (American, or otherwise) does not play a role in what's going on in Iraq. Everything is about politics. The R/V itself may not be politically motivated by America's government, but a successful Iraq is. That is obvious. The Republicans are taking some serious heat over the Iraq effort.
So think about that. What makes a successful Iraq? Stability, security, and economics (among other things, but those are the big three). I've long believed that if you solve the economic problem, you'll have a much easier time handling the security, and therefore, the stability.
Therefore, to sum up, I believe our elections hinge very much so on what the Iraqi government does for its citizens, and its country. A Reval would be a serious economic boon to their situation, which would then be used by politicians running for office (i.e., "People said we'd fail in Iraq - Now look at them - Their money is now worth 1:1 against the dollar, and you have jobs being created all over the country. The Republicans had the plan, stuck to the plan, and look at the successes"). Obviously, our elections aren't all about Iraq... But Iraq has more weight to the elections than one might think.Four years ago... no, it was yesterday. Today I... No, that wasn't me. Sometimes I... No, I don't.

Kurdistan: KRG Prepares draft of oil sales
Posted on Thursday, October 05 @ 19:29:06 PDT
Topic: Kurdistan
KRG’s Minister of Natural Resources, Ashti Hawrami, said that his government is working on a draft for oil sales that enables regional governments to handle the sales directly with purchasing companies.
In a statement to Al-Sabah paper, Hawrami said that the KRG had voiced full readiness to cooperate with Baghdad in the process of running the nine oil fields in the Kurdish region that the minister said solely belonged to the regional government.
On the other hand, Helky Idy, head of the Norwegian OND company that specializes in the oil-drilling industry, said that his company was expecting to drill for crude oil in the Kurdistan region beginning in 2007.

Plus!!!!!
CM: You must be able to put together a puzzle! It looks like we have most. If not all of the pieces to complete our puzzle!
Plus, if in fact we do get this RV. Think of what it would do to the USA's own economy! They would have, I would have to say. At least 100,000 ++++++ new multi millionaires overnight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. This could be very good for Bush. Knowing that more and more american people and other politics want this to be over and withdraw the troops.
Well if they all work together in Iraq the violence would be a lot less and under control, the economy is ready and will boom the next years what is very very good for the Americans.
By telling this he can say that the death soldiers didn't die for nothing and he don't stand over there with empty hands.
This is a big game called "ALL or NOTHING"!
