The way I see it. Our elections do have something of interest for Iraq. The republicans don't want to turn their backs on Iraq. They want to help them succeed. The democrats are only interested in pulling our troops out of Iraq and letting Iraq deal with their own problems. The republicans need to hold the majority vote in congress.

While I believe I understand the point you're trying to make, I think it's a bit presumptuous to think that politics (American, or otherwise) does not play a role in what's going on in Iraq. Everything is about politics. The R/V itself may not be politically motivated by America's government, but a successful Iraq is. That is obvious. The Republicans are taking some serious heat over the Iraq effort.

So think about that. What makes a successful Iraq? Stability, security, and economics (among other things, but those are the big three). I've long believed that if you solve the economic problem, you'll have a much easier time handling the security, and therefore, the stability.

Therefore, to sum up, I believe our elections hinge very much so on what the Iraqi government does for its citizens, and its country. A Reval would be a serious economic boon to their situation, which would then be used by politicians running for office (i.e., "People said we'd fail in Iraq - Now look at them - Their money is now worth 1:1 against the dollar, and you have jobs being created all over the country. The Republicans had the plan, stuck to the plan, and look at the successes"). Obviously, our elections aren't all about Iraq... But Iraq has more weight to the elections than one might think.

Within two years, industrial output trebled. By the early 1960s, Germany was the third greatest economic power in the world. And all of this occurred while West Germany was assimilating hundreds of thousands of East German refugees.

Wow, what are great story. Why can't these people see this? Every civilization has controlled their people with food. Keep them fat and happy and you have no problems. Starve them and you get, well, Iraq.
