Court charges couple for making love inside car parked on roadside

DOHA • A Qatari national and a Filipina were caught by the police in a compromising position in a car parked along a road late one night.

The prosecution has charged the duo with committing an immoral act in a public place. The woman was produced in a criminal court yesterday. The man had last appeared in court during an emergency hearing on September 20.

The court expressed surprise yesterday that despite being informed, the accused failed to appear. The chief judge, Mamoun Hamour, stopped the prosecution from reading out the charges after he learnt that the Filipina, who was present, had no defence lawyer.

He assigned counsel to her and fixed the next hearing in the case for November 15.

In another case, a young Filipina maid was accused of having illicit relations with an Arab expatriate. The man was doing some painting work in the house of a Qatari where he became friendly with her.

However, more than a month after the Arab worker had finished his painting contract, he was caught hiding in the house in the wee hours. It was suspected by the family that he had come to see the maid.

It so happened that one evening the whole family went to visit a close relative, but the maid refused to go along. The family returned around 2.30am and hearing some movement inside the house, called in the police.

The policemen searched the entire house and found the Arab expatriate hiding in the compound outside. They arrested him and the maid.

The lady of the house was very fond of the maid and when she was initially told by her sons that there was something going on between her and the Arab, she refused to listen.

In yet another case, a 20-year-old Pakistani went in appeal against the verdict of a criminal court which sentenced him to a year in prison after he was found guilty of impersonating a policeman and forcibly taking money from people.

The Pakistani was caught when an expatriate lodged a complaint with the police that a young man had taken QR5,000 from him posing as a policeman.

The modus operandi adopted by the Pakistani was that he would stop people on the pretext of checking their identity cards and take money from their wallets.

The cost of 6,1 billion dinars

The completion of the draft of Umm Qasr security fence



Completed engineering and technical capabilities of Iraqi cooperation with the Corps engineers Gulf, the draft fence port of Umm Qasr in Basra security, the cost of 6,1 billion dinars.

The project which was completed on the 5th of October 2006 at the Monument of a security fence length 8 km north and south of the port buildings, It also included the completion of cross-border road and the stations of the internal control and the control points of entry and the status of electric power.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari that the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki would pay an official visit to Turkey and Iran. Zebari said in a press conference held at the ministry building yesterday that Maliki will be a ministerial delegation to Turkey in the great 15th of this month. A source in the Wasit governorate yesterday, Wednesday, from the end of the preparations in Zorbatiyah outlet for receiving shipments of kerosene imported from Iran, and of two million liters per day.
