They are not on this. This is their Increase (or raise) for their pay. $136.00 a month raise is better than "MOST" of American Blue Collar Jobs get.

All in all it was some good news for the Iraqi people and hopefully a start to greater things to come. I am sure there is more details that will come out shortly over the wires but this was the jist of the announcements.

I agree. My husband got a $150.00 extra a month and we were celebrating. Every little bit helps.:new:

I don't think they are talking about raising their salaries two hundred thousand because it states "increase the salary of teachers to two hundred thousand. From the way they state it, it looks like they are raising their salary to two hundred thousand. That is not enough for one person to survive a whole year on... Or am I missing something???

Ambassador Daniel Speckhard, U.S. Director of the Iraq Reconstruction Management Office, recently highlighted the tremendous economic progress in Iraq in his recent report on the 27th of March, 2006:

“In addition, more than 30,000 Iraqi businesses have been registered in the past year alone, he said.

“If you look out into the streets, …you’ll see a very vibrant economy,’ Speckhard said. ‘People (are) buying consumer and durable goods - refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, and so forth.”

How these people do it, I dont know. What I do know, being a small business owner my self, is that it providing people this basic freedom to run their own businesses will only help with the task of rebuilding the nation and addressing the problem which many defeatist claim is a core issue - to win the political and civilian aspect of rebuilding the nation.

The more freedom you give people to create and take ownership of their own lives, the more hope they have in providing a better life for them selves and their families. This is a truth that crosses so many cultures and is a significant step in the right direction.

Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina added this:

When the currency revalues, the prices of items in Iraq will change too...basically making it an even swap...Neno did an AWESOME job explaining a few posts back...but for the citizens that have an extra, say 25,000 note saved, then they could perhaps purchase imported items that they would not have been able to buy had the Dinar NOT revalued, like maybe a t.v. or something else of 'luxury'. At 1:1 they could buy $25 thousand worth of items....at the current rate they can only buy around $22 DOLLARS worth. See what I mean? Along with the oil $$ shared, things will be PRETTY ROSY for them!

Seeing as though we, here have EXTRA Dinars that we have gotten at the current, pathetically low rate...It is going to be JUST AMAZING for us!

I think part of the problem here is this, we KNOW the Iraqi's need this, and we KNOW that we want this. So everytime we hear about a meeting, or see an error message on a FX chart, or the CBI is delayed in updating we jump on that and say "this is it" Do I believe it could happen anytime? YES YES YES!! Could it be 6 months from now? well....yes. "6 MONTHS?? The Iraqi's are starving!" Yes they are, but.... We have NO idea what goes on behind closed doors. Everyone needs to keep their chins up. Anyone who lurks over at IIF have you read any of Paynes (I think thats his name) posts. He has some great thoughts on what might happen (all positive) My point is.... Everyone who is in this investment, on this forum has a belief, otherwise we would not be here. There are people who have alot more smarts than I do who are pro investors who are in this BIG TIME! Some of them are on this forum. I believe in the power of positive thinking, affirmation, and all of that. But this situation is a little different. Bottom line is This WILL happen, we just need to demonstrate some patience, and try not to jump on every little thing thinking that this is the day.
