Melbourne, October 19 October / Reuters / - The Iraqi Oil Minister Hussein Shahrastani Reuters today, Thursday, that Iraq hoped to complete the first round of the award of contracts for the development of oil fields by the end of next year.
He said that Iraq, which includes Iraq's third largest oil reserves in the world and is expected to begin talks with international companies on the development of oil fields by the end of the year immediately following the parliament's approval on the new law regulating the oil and gas sector.
He added Shahrastani difficult to set a date for such negotiations, but in general expect to start discussions with the beginning of 2007 and to sign the majority of contracts during the first round that year.

He said Shahrastani, who is in Australia to hold talks with the ministers told us that many of the oil companies ready to begin discussion of possible ways of cooperation even before the enactment of the new law.
He added, we intend to do so after the preparation of an oil policy define any fields will be available for development first and the type of arrangements that favored Iraq and the type of contracts and conditions that achieve the national interests of Iraq.
The regional balance of the development is also important because we want the oil to be unifying force for the entire country.
Shahrastani refused to comment on the companies most likely to be involved in the early stages, but said that all major companies interested.

Iraqi Investments Club
Interesting,
Still no 10K distribution at days end, and still quiet on the news front from Kurdistan. Oil investors are lined up, and no doubt oil production will be increasing monthly to new highs, so if BaghShiite gets there act together, they could see the same thing, but with rampant corruption in government, and same in police and parliament, this is the one issue which seems to be slowing progress. Clear out the 3,000 plus, elect more Kurd's in parliament and you have the main problems solved. It looks like CBI site being down has nothing to do with revalue according to my contacts, but there were some rumors ofl corruption being more wide spread than first reports, including CBI positions as well. Now this would make sense why we have black out on news reports. Sure is getting interesting. (g)
Good luck to all, Mike

what auction file??
if you are refering to the auctions last year at the cbi it has been confirmed by 3 more than myself in the group that there was no absence of auctions last year that we recall. there was a few times when they neglected to post the auctions but they were never in succession and they were few and far between.
im not in the habit of saving a bunch of stuff to reference or i would have my hard drive full by now. thats why i become familiar with the search feature of the forums. im sure if you check the iif forum for last year at ramadan you will see the pattern of auctions at the bank were normal.JULY STILL AINT NO LIE!!!
