Just received an interesting pm from one of my sources regarding revalue. I'll have to ask his permission before divulging it.
Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.

Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

Once the dinar is convertible and hence exchangeable internationally how can Iraq trade and import goods if their currency is again worth sweet fa? They just can't do it.

Why IMO the dinar has to go back to at least what the Kurds had it valued at 3 years ago, ie .32 to the dollar. Anything lower would be an inuslt to them as they have made so many concessions. Why? Because they knew 3 years ago that one day the dinar would be valued a lot higher than that and they'd be rewarded for their patience. The people of Iraq are owed bigtime as are the UD, UK and other countries that have invested heavily and forgiven billions of dollars of debt. That's why I believe in a vault within the CBI this thing is already signed and done and dusted. Just got to get them to get the blasted thing out, lol.
    Ok, thanks!
    I se I made a mistake - I wrote 0.03 cents - I meant 3 cents (0.03 SEK) But now I have calculated it...and three Swedish cents would be 0.0039$!

I agree with you - seems very illogical!
Let's hope for a quick and high peg!

This was forwarded to me. It puts the deaths in Iraq in perspective. Don't believe all the negative stuff out there, more good stuff is happening.

Rep. Steve King, a Republican of Iowa, on C-span last week and he rattled off some startling figures that demonstrate how off-base journalists are when it comes to reporting on the war in Iraq.

    VIOLENT DEATHS PER 100,000

    Columbia 61.7
    New Orleans 53.1
    South Africa 49.6
    Washington D.C. 45.9
    Baltimore 37.7
    Atlanta 34.9
    Jamaica 32.4
    Venezuela 31.6
    Iraq 25.7

Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

This is what I got guys....take it for what it is, makes a lot of sense to me though. He's waiting to hear something around Jun 18th....

The formation of the gov't is a confidence card that had to be played before the release of the RV. When Talabani assumed the Presidency in April everything except a few minor crossing of "t"s and dotting of "i"s are done. If Maliki can keep this balancing act together long enough for it to become official, then you will undoubtedly see the dinar globally convertible in June. A revaluation should accompany the convertibility in the neighborhood of 1:1 (nothing new from me ). After or in conjunction with the revaluation the ISX should be opened to foreign investment paving the way for the influx of foreign currency which will hedge Iraqs revalue against the initial speculators...at this point timing is everything. This is now and always has been a political chess match. One thing to look for is a possible (I SAID POSSIBLE) hold on foreign currency exchanges, if this happens (I SAID IF) speculators may have to wait until the end of June to cash in...this week will be an interesting one but I am anxiously awaiting June 18th.

1:1! I almost fell out of my chair! That would be great, but I would settle for a lot less. It is good to hear that things are definitely moving along.

    Default Do you sleep?

    Adam
Do you ever sleep? I left this forum last night with the image of dinar-a-holics, and people bathing in dinars, had some dinner, tucked the kiddies in, and went to bed. I got up fairly early this morning(for me) and you had already posted another significant snippet that you had come across. I would be exhausted. Or maybe you plan on getting some rest after the peg?
