ABC News: Iraq Kurdistan Launches Tourism Campaign

Oct 19, 2006 (AP)— It's not for the casual traveler. But if you are up for an adventure in a place that boasts peace, democracy and an experienced security force, a California marketing firm has a suggestion: Kurdistan.

"It has always been a tourist destination for Iraq and other parts of the Middle East," said Sal Russo, whose Sacramento, Calif., firm helped the Kurdistan Development Corp. create a new television ad campaign for the three-province region in Northern Iraq. "Westerners walk around freely and there is an active nightlife."

"on vacation in Beirut" AGH!! Sounds like a bad joke. Leave one war zone to vacation in another. Shabibi has got to get these people some real purchasing power so they can learn what a real vacation is!

It is very possible since none of us were there with the BoA lady that was helping RR, we don't know where she first went first for her information on the exchange rate. More than likely while she was on the phone with him she was looking at the usual spot for the information and finding that it had not been updated went to the CBI website for more information at which point she found it down. Just a guess but you are both (Brain and Texaslonghorn) probably correct.

I just got off the phone with "Free Dinars" and they are selling just like nothing is going on. I just called to check not to buy. He said it would process today and I could have it on Monday for what it's worth. They are the ones in Lehi, UT

I am all but positive that the gal I spoke with was @ an interbank desk . . . I do not know if she checked the Forex first / then tried the CBI . . . I could hear her clicking around . . .

I did not want to *push* her & frankly it never occurred to me / to ask her if she was the only one who knew to check the CBI . . . and I certainly didn't want her to clam up . . . so I didn't pursue any one potentially suspicious sounding subjects . . .

Maybe she gave me more info than she should have . . . I have no way of knowing . . . she did think that she was talking to a Banker / not an investor . . . that was the IDEA . . .

I also did not ask her for her name . . . because once she made the comment re: history . . . she was a lot less inclined to say anything . . .
