Maybe we need to have a Just News Thread and then a sister thread for disscussion of the news. Not the crazy thread but a separate disscussion thread! It might make things easier. Think about it, if you did not understand english and had to use a translator, man that would be a b**$! That would make it much easier for those that are looking for pure news and if they had a language problem like Winner it would make it much more simple for them and save a bunch of time. And then we could still continue on like we are here in the disscussion thread.

TheBrain stated that there were auctions after Monday. I've been unable to find any articles that back this up. See if any of you can find out if they did indeed have auctions. I thought Suzie had posted an article stating that there weren't auctions after Monday. I think that this is the key to whether or not it will reval Sunday.

Clashes test plan to put Iraqis in charge - Yahoo! News

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Fierce battles between militia gunmen and police in the southern city of Amara on Friday tested the Iraqi government's ability to rein in sectarian groups and U.S.-led plans to hand over control to Iraqis.

Several hundred gunmen attacked three police stations and set fire to them before an appeal for calm from Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr restored order, officials said. Hundreds of Iraqi soldiers were brought in to support police in the clashes.

The Shi'ite-led Iraqi government is struggling to exert its authority over Shi'ite militias blamed for reprisal killings, and to build a viable police force capable of retaining its independence in areas with deep tribal or sectarian loyalties.

The latest tensions came after Washington said the results of its 2-month-old campaign to curb violence in Baghdad through mass reinforcements had been disappointing. That setback and rising U.S. casualties have piled pressure on President Bush before November mid-term elections.

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who this week met powerful Shi'ite clerics Sadr and Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani to enlist their support in curbing sectarian violence, ordered Waeli to go to Amara on Friday to try to quell the turmoil.

Waeli said the trouble had started with the assassination of the head of police intelligence. "Amara is a tribal town so it turned into a crisis," he said, adding that police neutrality was a problem because some officers were loyal to their tribes.

"The government is very serious in not allowing the forces to be loyal to any political group," he said.

let's say there IS a news thread and a sister "discussion" thread. I post a news article in the news thread and then I go post that same article in the "discussion" thread. A "news only" person reads the article in the "news thread" and is prompted to ask a clarifying question. Person hops on over to the "discussion" thread to post the question. Members begin to respond and we are back in the same situation we are at now due to the language barrier.

Another scenario would be the "news only" person reads the article in the "news only" thread and forgets he/she is in the "news only" thread and posts a clarifying question within the "news only" thread and prompts responses to be posted in that thread thus defeating the purpose of the thread.

Thoughts?

You have a good point here, I am not sure what the answer is. But folks were starting to get down on Winner and I was just trying to get folks to see it a bit clearer from his point of view.
