Ok , I have a couple questions for folks to ponder.

CBI's website was down, and the phone lines were out (people tried to call them and couldn't get through).

Where and how did any auctions take place? You couldn't possibly have an auction without communication. And I highly doubt that they all gather in some hall somewhere and have a show of hands to conduct the auction.

My gut feeling is that, in fact, there were no auctions after monday and the rates faxed to brain's exchanger were the last rates posted, repeated each day. I may be wrong but that is my opinion.

With regards to RR's conversation with that lady at BOA... maybe her reference to "no trading for a few days prior to a change in the exchange rate" was a reference to the situation in Kuwait when their reval went through. I'm thinking that because there has been no "significant" change in the rate for IQD since it was established in 2003. And it seems to me that somewhere in all these posts recently someone pointed out that trading in Kuwait currency was suspended for something like 5 days before the reval there.

could be the reason why we see no updates is because they could not update it due to site being down?

I asked yeasterday, with no response. Has anybody heard anymore about the streets being closed? Are they still??

Call it BS all you want Mike, it just might be and that's why I said I will see Sunday but to me it sounds more logical then the CBI shutting down their website because a reval is in the making.

I never said each bank does this -I am asking WHO faxed the auction information to your currency exchanger . Was it the CBI and if so Why wouldn't they notify all of the other major banks????? What is so hard to understand BRAIN?????

Almost every forum on the internet has a news, and views thread to some extent. Thats basically what this thread is, although we all know that we can be banned for posting anything except news here. Every news thread always starts off with very strict reminders of what can happen should you post anything other than cut and paste news here, then turns into a news and views thread. Why? Because it works, and we are human I suppose. News sites like alsabaah are news only, this place is full of people who wanna hear news, and others input, and the way that forum threads were designed was to make it possible to give people what they want, it's what the majority of the people here want. This is not a bash on the mods, or admin, just thinking out loud more or less.

It would be neat I guess if there was a holy grail news thread that was basically a Euphoria of only the finest bit of news that spelled RV is so many words, and was left untouched just shining in it's artistic beauty, and was followed up by a picture perfect RV, but in reality we need to be able to kick ideas around, get feedback, and such to all learn, and progress in this experience. And of course it needs to be easy to do so (IE all in one thread) to minimize confusion, and speed things along at a nice pace.

Just my thoughts on the news/go crazy need for separation of info.
