The big boys, Central Bank of Iraq.
Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.
Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

I was reading over at the investorsiraq forum that some people think they will cut off (I think it was called "lop"?) the zeros... I sure hope not!

Lopping off zeros doesn't sound good at all...even though I don't really understand what it means. If you have a 10,000 note, does this mean that they will just decide that it's only worth 1,000 regardless of what it says on the note?

Here we go, first bit of good news for the day. Why are the EU throwing money at Iraq? Because in 2 weeks the dinar will have pegged to the Euro at the rate below in my sig. :0)
EU welcomes appointment of new Iraqi govt

BRUSSELS, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) on Saturday welcomed the formation of a new Iraqi government and promised financial support for Baghdad.
"The appointment of the new Iraqi government is very good news," said Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European commissioner for external relations.
"This will be a powerful instrument to help overcome sectarianism, and prevent violence hampering Iraqi development," said Ferrero-Waldner.
The EU promised help for the rebuilding of the war-torn country.
"The Iraqis will not be alone in their next steps toward rebuilding their country. The European Commission will remain actively supportive of Iraqi efforts to build a prosperous and peaceful future," said Ferrero-Waldner.
She said the EU will soon discuss with the new government an aid package worth 200 million euros (254 million U.S. dollars) for 2006.
The EU is ready to start negotiations to establish contractual relations with Iraq and that the European Commission, the executive body of the EU, will open an office in Baghdad, said Ferrero-Waldner. Enditem
