Guys, there's a live link on the site, you can watch/hear him live.....

    Breaking News | News & Media | Latest Current - FOXNews.com

WASHINGTON — President Bush will brief reporters on the war in Iraq Wednesday morning from the East Room of the White House.

Watch Bush's press conference live on FOX News Channel at 10:30 a.m. EDT or watch live streaming video on FOXNews.com.

With less than two weeks until Election Day, the White House aims to push an Iraq agenda with a dramatic policy shift in response to security concerns.

"Obviously there is a lot going on on the security and political situation in Iraq and it's important that the president also update the American people on the state of the conflict," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said.

Bush won't announce any change in troop levels, Perino said. The president plans to update the nation on the Iraq strategy following meetings with top Iraq leaders last week including Gen. George Casey Jr., the top commander in Iraq; Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Amb. Zalmay Khalizad, the top U.S. envoy in Iraq.

On Tuesday, American officials introduced a timeline for Iraq's Shiite-led government to address security problems in Baghdad with the possibility of bringing in more troops.

    Adam,

Most all of us could use the r/v before the end of November. I don't like the thought of going in to the first quarter of 2007 either. But in a few reflective moments over the last couple of weeks, I have thought.. if I knew it was guaranteed for sure that it would r/v in the first quarter, peace of mind would replace all worries. There is no way we could get such a guarantee of course, so first quarter of 2007 seems like just another in a long line of put off hopes, and dreams.

So, I am on board with you.. let's hope it gets done in the next month.

Tony Snow's statement yesterday that the HCL will be done next month was certainly encouraging..

I think Maliki is going to be history.....makes Bush's speech in 50 minutes even more interesting...

    Iraqi leader disavows timetable report
U.S. and Iraqi forces on Wednesday raided Sadr City, the stronghold of the feared Shiite militia led by radical anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, but Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki disavowed the operation, saying he had not been consulted and insisting "that it will not be repeated."

The defiant al-Maliki also slammed the top U.S. military and diplomatic representatives in Iraq for saying Iraq needed to set a timetable to curb violence ravaging the country.

"I affirm that this government represents the will of the people and no one has the right to impose a timetable on it," al-Maliki said at a news conference.

Al-Maliki has repeatedly pledged to deal with the militias but has resisted issuing firm ultimatums or deadlines.

Al-Maliki said he believed the U.S. talk of timelines was driven by the upcoming U.S. midterm election.

"We are not much concerned with it," al-Maliki said.

Maliki needs to be replaced....he talks out the sides of his mouth saying he will deal with the Militias and so forth but refuses to do anything about it....i'm sure he wants to be seen as a tuff guy in the eyes of his people...thats why he bashes Bush or the Generals for what they say or do.....but since he has been in power, everything has moved at a snails pace...its moving, but way too slowly for Bush....he needs something positive to happen in Iraq....and soon.....hopefully,a ""REVEL"" would be the "REMEDY" or cure.....GO DINARS...Pat

Very interesting article, Adster. Those kinds of statements do worry me, though - Not about the investment, per se, but just about the situation in Iraq in general. I mean, I personally feel that there is no time to mess around. The people need immediate relief - Economic, Security, and other areas. Replacing Maliki just pushes those relief efforts back that much more.

So for me, this is bit of a catch-22 situation. I do agree that Maliki is soft on a few issues that he can not remain soft on, and therefore if ever there was a case for replacing a leader, this is one. He's obviously not getting the job done in areas where it's important to do so (That is only my opinion, so I have no articles or links to supply).

However, replacing him, whoever steps into those shoes is going to have a learning curve... Time to get acclimated and adjusted to his new role in Iraq's future. Even if there are advisors telling this new guy that he needs to revalue the currency, quell the violence, and reign in the militias, if this new guy has the type of personality which is commanding, and methodical, he may tell his advisors a "Thank you, but I'm not ready to make any decisions until I have all the facts, and feel comfortable with everything". Okay, maybe not said like that, but that could be the gist.

Sorry if I rambled - Been a very long night for me last night, and that has led to a rough morning.
Four years ago... no, it was yesterday. Today I... No, that wasn't me. Sometimes I... No, I don't.
