Authorities in Iraq are reviewing the projects and providing the necessary guarantees to attract investors and attract more Arabian capital.

Consultant at the Iraqi ministry of housing said that there are three major projects that Saudi investors tend to launch in Iraq, that include industrial, housing and agricultural investments with the total investment estimated at more than $587 million. The agricultural project is considered to be the biggest one, occupying a large space of land and will improve the Iraqi agricultural production.

The projects will help in developing the infrastructure of Iraq and their investment will be a great benefit to the country. The projects will also receive many incentives such as tax exemption for 10 years and the option to transfer the money abroad after paying the Iraqi government.

The consultant pointed out that a business forum would be held in the upcoming two months in Kuwait where Iraqi businessmen will meet their Arab counterparts to reveal investment opportunities in Iraq. About 500 Saudi companies are expected to attend the gathering.

Yes it is choochie, have to remember that majority of Saudi people are Sunnis. The ones in power in Iraq behind the scenes are Shiites. Could be why both Saudi and Kuwait have taken so long in forgiving debt. But to see the above, they're queueing up to line their pockets. Money is bigger than religion etc......

We're on the verge of something so so special.

SAUDI ARABIA: IRAQI SUNNIS AND SHIITES TO SIGN PEACE DECLARATION

Mecca, 20 Oct. (AkI) - Iraqi Sunni and Shiite religious leaders are due on Friday to ink a 10-point peace accord in the holy Saudi city of Mecca aimed at ending the sectarian bloodbath in Iraq, pan-Arab daily al-Sharq al-Awsat reported. Representatives from the Sunni Ulema Council - Iraq's highest Sunni religious authority - and Shiite clerics from the holy Shiite city of Najaf will attend the signing of the document, which condemns the slaying of civilians and the destruction of mosques, and calls for the withdrawal of American troops and for national unity.

At least 100 civilians are being killed each day in Iraq, according to the United Nations. The latest figures from the Iraqi health ministry stated that 2,667 people were killed in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad during September, 400 more than in August.

In July and August, 6,599 people were killed across the country, of which 5,106 were killed in Baghdad, according to the UN.

They both follow Islam as their religion.

Saudi Arabia occupies the Holy Land of Islam one could say it's the Muslim Vatican, but with oil.
But the Saudi government is not just Muslim it's Wahhabist. This is a fanatical sect that preaches holy war and the violent enforcement of Muslim law on believers and unbelievers alike.
The only difference between the Saudi government and Al Qaeda is that Al Qaeda rejects cooperation with the West, while the Saudis think the more effective path is to cooperate with the West on the surface while proselytizing for Wahhabism, preaching hate for and murder of all opponents of Wahhabist ideology.

Just received another response to my email regarding the 10,000 IQD.
Iraqi maintenance at a base NW of Baghdad are saying they have heard rumor the money will be received next month. Again...this is only local information.

BBC NEWS | UK | Basra consulate staff relocated

    Basra consulate staff relocated
    The British Consulate in Basra
The British Consulate in Basra has been a target for attacks
Several civilian staff are being moved from the British consulate in Basra because of safety concerns.

The Foreign Office said the move was "in response to increased threats from mortar and rocket attacks".

Some Foreign Office and Department for International Development workers will be moved temporarily to the airport outside the southern Iraqi city.

But the consul general, along with other senior and core staff, will stay at the Basra Palace headquarters.

A spokeswoman said the move was "not irreversible" and denied it was an evacuation.

    'Remain committed'

"We are not going to diminish the work we are doing out there," she said.

Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett added in a statement: "There are two important points to make about this decision. The first is that we will stay in Iraq until the job is done.

"We have adapted because we remain committed to the people of Basra and the elected Iraqi government.

"The second [point] is to recognise the bravery of our civilian staff, all of whom have volunteered to serve in Iraq and who demonstrate that bravery and dedication each day in spite of these attacks."

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the move is in response to a private security assessment which advised Consul General Dr Rosalind Marsden and her staff to leave the building.

The consulate has been the target of mortar attacks over the last two months.

The newspaper reports that the re-deployment of consular staff has "infuriated" senior military commanders, who believe it sends out a message that insurgents are winning the struggle to push the British out of the southern Iraqi capital.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence declined to comment.
