You have been saying this for a long time. We always wanted to believe that it would be earlier. Now, I am truely hoping that you were right all along!

This is a question for any of our resident experts...

With all of the talk about the 10k handout being a pittance, and an r/v would seem to be part of the handout, a question..

Back when the new currency was printed, and the value of the Dinar went from .31 to being controlled at the rate it is now..there had to be quite a bit of backlash when that happened.

And now, we seem to see some Iraqis complaining of the value, but not in mass numbers. There is no outcry heard in volume. Wonder why that is? Any thoughts on this? Or. have I missed news articles that paint a different picture?

I don't know if the meeting is over yet in London with Shabibi....what time is it in London??? I sure would not want to be Shabibi if he is still trying to sell Iraq without a reval in place. Let's hope he makes an announcement today.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq plans to ask the United Nations Security Council to extend the mandate governing the presence of U.S.-led forces in Iraq for another year, Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari said on Monday.

He said a continued foreign troop presence under the mandate, which expires on Dec. 31, remained "indispensable" for Iraq's security despite the government's desire to expedite the training of its own security forces.

In an interview with Reuters, Zebari said there was no rift with the United States over the ultimate goals in Iraq despite the past week's tensions over how much control the Iraqi government has over its forces.

He also announced that Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al- Moualem had agreed to visit Baghdad, possibly in November. Iraq and the United States accuse Syria and Iran of supporting the insurgency and Zebari said the visit would be an "acid test" of Syria's attitude.
