    Purpose
The International Advisory and Monitoring Board (IAMB) is an audit oversight body for the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI).
The DFI was established pursuant to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1483 and holds the proceeds of petroleum export sales from Iraq, as well as remaining balances from the UN Oil-for-Food Program and other frozen Iraqi funds. Disbursements from the DFI must be used for the benefit of the Iraqi people, and are directed by the Coalition Provisional Authority, in consultation with the Iraqi interim administration. The IAMB will continue to function after the dissolution of the Coalition Provisional Authority on June 30, 2004 and will work with the Interim Government of Iraq, as set out in United Nations Security Council Resolution 1546. United Nations Security Council Resolution 1637 extended the mandate of the IAMB until December 31, 2006.
The principal role of the IAMB is to help ensure that:
    • The DFI is used in a transparent manner for the benefit of the people of Iraq, and
    • Export sales of petroleum, petroleum products, and natural gas from Iraq are made consistent with prevailing international market best practices.
For this purpose, the IAMB functions akin to an audit oversight board. (Terms of Reference)
this extension until the end of the year isnt recent. they did this earlier. doesnt mean they are waiting til the end.

The government also believes that merging Iraqi small banks into big banks is necessary. Baban said the government are looking forward to the initiatives of the private sector in all fields starting from basic services to infrastructure.
“No restrictions will be imposed,” he said.

How is that the Iraqi government is going to meet economic benchmarks with a worthless currency....come on reval it and prosper!!

The Iraqis should “meet concrete milestones and political and economic benchmarks as a condition of future aid,” the report recommended. It said US relief and reconstruction aid could be provided through conditional loans and be tied to specific actions by the Iraqi government. During the past two weeks US officials have pressed the Iraqis to begin to meet milestones of progress, an effort that has revealed rifts in the relationship between the two governments.

And I hope the headline reads "Thousands of US citizens become overnight millionaires".... not millions of US citizens... I wonder how many of us there are actually? Anyone know the estimated number of "speculators" in the private sector, that is??

We'll probably find out in the next couple weeks!
dont think the G.O.P. has forgotten their 'surprise' yet. like i said before, what would be FRESH in voters minds!! i would say one big positive report out of iraq might be irreplaceable for them. i would be lookin for something this week to happen before the election.

One of the members here asked in their forum about the dinar and they shrugged it off without responding much. Any thoughts on this from anyone?
they know the dinar is worthless and to them it always will be. since this new 'money' has been in their possession it has been totally worthless so what should make them change their opinion of that? from what i hear a friend tried to tip his bartender a 10,000 dinar and the guy wanted like five bucks usd instead because they dont want that 'worthless' dinar.

he even tried to tell them it would soon be worth more than the usd and they laughed at him like he was insane.
