MANAMA, Bahrain, 03 November 2006 (UPI)

Iraq will hold its first international trade event since the toppling of Saddam Hussein in an effort to gain international investment and reconstruction help.

The event, announced in Manama by Iraq Ambassador Ghassan Muhsen Hussein, will be held March 24-26 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center in Manama.

"We are ... convinced that Bahrain, which is at the center of financial and economic activities in the region, is the ideal choice for such a major event of our government," he was quoted Thursday by the Gulf Daily News.

The event is being organized by the Iraq government in association with Bahrain's Magnum Events and Exhibitions Management company.

Jamil Wafa, chairman of MEEM's parent organization, said the show was expected to draw more than 12,000 attendees, including Iraq government decision makers.

"It (the trade show) will pave the road towards coordination and huge investments," Wafa said. "It is a milestone in Iraq's progress towards new business opportunities."

I agree SGS. I remember one of her posts where she quoted a "International Trade Expert" at her "local branch". It was some convoluted logic about the only way the dinar would ever RV. It was good for a laugh and that's about all. She has zero credibility in my opinion. But as Adster says we will see on the 13th. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I went to our local branch of BoA and asked about purchasing Dinars. They directed me to the senior teller and she calmly opened a box sitting right at her desk. She looked through the book, came to the dinar and said, "Oh we have it listed, but I don't see where we can buy or sell this currency. Let me check the computer". So she checks the computer and says., "We can't get a quote for the dinar Sir, I guess we can't trade this currency. Sorry". She closes the book and I walk out of the bank. However, the book is right there on her desk WITH THE PICTURES OF THE DINARS already printed in it. My guess is that they are all getting ready for a switch sometime in the near future.
