Well what I CAN say is that I am a COMPLETE NEWBIE at following anything that is REMOTELY connected to politics! I have never had a real REASON to be concerned with who the mayor is or who's in what cabinet (besides the liquor cabinet!) or anything else...but I DID start to take notice when this war began....I actually thought that I would buy the little packages of $1800 dinar notes for my 9 year old son for like a collector item...then I really began researching this whole thing. The Kuwaiti Dinar just rose in value again LAST WEEK...some are saying that it is going to 'tie into' what is happening in Iraq with their government and trying to get going with the 'world'.

Yes, the Security positions still need to be filled within the cabinet (unless they have been appointed...haven't seen anything about that though)...but from what I've read that should be taken care of by the end of this week...perhaps that is why OSW's source has said the middle of June and not by June 2...they need more time to get everything in order?

It has been said numerous times in threads in 'our' area of this forum that this is a Win-Win situation...The dinar HAS to peg...it is just a timing situation at the moment! If you need the dinar to peg and have to have the money in your bank account by Friday at noon...you might have a problem! BUT... it doesn't matter to me, personally, if the money gets there by mid or end of June...or even July...I will still be one HAPPY CAMPER!

Mike (OSW) tells us what he hears, and is wonderful enough to answer all sorts of questions. (mine included!)

As does Adam! (Adster) I'm sure we will get a full - blown report/reaction when he returns from his vacation! I'm thinking he has purchased every newspaper he can get his hands on to follow the events seeing as though he hasn't had access online! He is probably going through a pretty wicked withdrawl too! LOL! He will hopefully be back soon to complete the info-duo-that-we-all-have-come-to-love!

Right now I'm just rolling along with this...fingers and toes still crossed for June 2nd...but I won't be heartbroken if it's the 12th either, you know?

I have to take my son to the dentist but I'll be back in a bit.
    Catch you guys later!
    Tiff

    Hi guys.....

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all, just got a bit of time in the internet cafe as it is cloudy outside and Mrs A wanted to check her ebay, lol. Having a great time although our ruddy flight got cancelled, technical difficulties!!! lost a day, had to fly out on Friday instead, holed up in the Hilton down in Brighton! Not good. Never mind. NEVER FLY WITH EXCEL AIRLINES, THE PITS, SO MANY COCK-UPS....

Anyways, checked the old SI account, looks like tomorrow for me, not sure if will get the chance to get back in line though so may have to wait till Friday....

As for the peg, we have sky tv here with our villa and it has all the channels so Bloomberg has been on a lot of the time! We have been imagining buying one of the villas out here if it pegs in the next 3 days!

I have had a look elsewhere and it looks like it still can happen up until the 1 June. One rumour is it will be from week beginning 5 June......Again take it for what it is, it will happen just a case of waiting as always. Although the minister posts have not been filled we do not need that for a peg.

I see those in hyipeffect will be paid from next week, good news. :0)

Well that is the news for now.

Will post when we get back on Friday, fingers crossed for now.

Will reply to pm's when get back to England.

    Default Just read this today

    Outlook for 2006-07: Exchange rates
The New Iraqi dinar (NID) was broadly stable in 2004, at NID1,453:US$1, but has been under some pressure in 2005. This is largely because of political and security concerns, but also, as the IMF reports, possibly because of an increase in the dollarisation rate in certain sectors of the economy. However, given the CBI’s commitment to maintaining what has become a de facto peg, and the apparent resort to foreign-exchange “rationing” (under other guises) in some instances in the CBI’s daily currency auctions, the average official rate had depreciated to only around NID1,475:US$1 by end-September, and has stayed at around that level since. The CBI appears reluctant to use its large accumulated foreign-exchange reserves (of around US$9bn) to satisfy dollar demand, and has not been minded to raise local-currency interest rates sufficiently to attempt to stem the pressure on the dinar. In the present security situation we expect pressure on the currency to remain high. Nevertheless, CBI intervention should maintain a relatively stable rate of about NID1,470-1,475:US$1 in 2006-07.

    Interesting,

Before anyone gets nervous, this is old news written back in mid 2005, and sadly, when researching news on Iraq, many of these old posts are updated with a more current date, just as was disclosed a couple weeks ago with a top search listed site, which I won't waste my time mentioning here. LOL

It has become more and more difficult to seperate the old news from the new news lately as many sites are simply listed based on traffic, so we are not getting relevent information at the top of search engines like we once saw. If you type in current date, now I am seeing many more rehashed sites with a blip of new informations which carries all the old and outdated comments and opinions, so don't worry, I had this one stored since July 2005 word for word.

    Good luck to all, Mike

Yes, correct, you can exchange whatever you want, and receive whatever currency you want, as well as dinar as change. (g)

    Cool Uummmuuummm

Just got my first Delievery of Dinar. Dam it smells just like money. I am wondering if every one that recieves the Dinar from other sourses if they are recieving New Notes. My are like they just come off the press. Got the water mark and invisiable Horse head and all.

What is alittle confusing to me is there is a little number on them like our serial numbers on the Dollar. If I am right we never have the same number on our notes. But I have noticed several of these have the same marking while others are alittle differnet.

I dont know much about Dinar athentic but they sure look good. I want to throw them in the dryer and age them alittle.hehe Just letting ya'll know I got my first order today and waitng tommorrow for my other.
