I don't recommend letting anyone else have control of them either if it can be avoided but documenting serial numbers is a wise move and CYA.
If the notes have to be sent away to be authenticated there are ways to protect yourself legally and documenting the notes and serial numbers is the best way to begin the process.

do you suppose the banks will want your deposits and as much money as possible from those deposits counting toward the total amount? if they are a smart business they want as much of your dinar as possible to exchange.

ive watched how banks handle money and considering thats their main function to process monies they have rules and laws that check and double check them and cameras running constantly etc. unless you planned on trading your dinar in with some bohica operation from the dinar forums, to suspect banking establishments of stealing part of your dinar or claiming it isnt any good is silly. any monies that they dont exchange will be legitimately and legally handled with your total knowledge.

mainly what they are looking for is all the stolen dinar that got away. as long as you purchased your dinar through a reputable source you have nothing to worry about.

i would bet the bank would copy for you if you wanted and then sign it. im sure mine will cause i asked

With the comment of having your dinars off to authenticate.....I will drive or fly to NY with my dinar before i hand my dinar to the bank for them to send them off Im not taking any chances. I want it done right in front of me...Im not taking that chance. Dose anyone know of any banks that has the proper machine to authenticate dinar right then and there??? I remember a while back that there is a special machine from the De la Rue ..but it could have been a rumor....when i read it it was a while back at the IIF

I don't recommend turning your dinar over to anyone either but even if the teller walks into the bank manager's office with them....I want proof that they belong to me and documented serial numbers will provide that proof.
If after the r/v you're going to the bank to exchange your's and some dude walks up and clocks you...how are you going to prove they belonged to you later without some documentation?
Mike Brown asked for more details why people were photocopying their dinar and I explained why...I wasn't recommending he turned his over to anyone that asked for them.

Very good points Susie...I only documented my serial numbers to prove I actually owned them for my own peace of mind and to CMA in the event it was required but it's ironic because we'll hand a bank teller many thousands of dollars in our own currency with no hesitation or precautions.
