I was just explaining to Mike Brown why people are photocopying their dinar... I do not recommend nor advise letting it out of your sight either.
Trust me Munny....whoever walks with my dinar will have this 6 foot wench in their face....every step of the way.

You are 100% right, Tank. I find it extremely hard to believe someone would simply hand over the IQD to be "sent" to another bank for authentication. I realize banks can be trusted and have strict safe guards in place. But I also like a little thing called sleep. And my "stack" will be set next to my bedside until I physically watch it running through the required processes.

    Eyewitness: Baghdad under curfew
    By Hugh Sykes
    BBC News, Baghdad

Police checkpoints have been set up at the main intersections
The streets were so empty and quiet that I heard birds singing as I and a colleague walked along, instead of the usual cacophony of Baghdad traffic.

Long, wide, dusty avenues were quiet and still - the silence broken by the sound of generators here and there, a few children chattering past on bicycles, and the occasional car.

The police were using their discretion and allowing essential trips - to hospitals, or to buy food.

There were static police checkpoints at the main intersections. A friendly policeman wandered over to check us out - we shook hands, and he said there were a few stores open down Amar Bin Yasir Street.

    Defending Saddam

A rudimentary kiosk was open. Issam, a 12-year-old boy in a grubby Zinedine Zidane football shirt, was selling chocolate bars, washing powder, soft drinks and cheap plastic razors.

Only essential trips - to hospital or to buy food - were allowed

Most of the shops that I walked past had their grilles or shutters closed and locked.

One was open - a stationery shop. The manager, a Shia Muslim who didn't want me to give her name, passionately defended Saddam Hussein, and pleaded: "God Protect Him!"

She saw how surprised I was to hear this from someone whose community were treated so contemptuously and violently by Saddam Hussein.

Furiously she demanded: "What is better now? What security do I have? What future do I have with bombs and killing? We need a strong leader."

    Busy bakery

Further down the street, next to a kebab stall alongside one plastic table and four chairs, two men discussed Saddam Hussein and the likely aftermath of his death, if he is ever executed.

One said hanging him would change nothing, and might even bring more danger because the ex-Baathists are so well-armed and organised.

His friend disagreed. "His support will disappear if he dies. It's like a car - if you disconnect the battery, the car can't go," he said.

As we walk on, an enticing smell of fresh bread wafts across the street. The local bakery is open and busy.

We buy a dozen hot samoon - like pitta bread, but with pointed ends - and head back to the office to eat it before it gets cold.

It's a cool quiet evening in Baghdad. Thunder is rumbling, and rain is starting to fall.

And everyone here is wondering what will happen when the curfew is fully lifted and "normal" life returns to the city for the first time since Saddam Hussein stood in the dock and heard that he had been sentenced to death by hanging.

    Default authentication by the source?

That stack of IQD will NOT leave my sticky hands until I see the correct digits reflected in my multiple bank accounts.
I for one am not worried in the least-some of my money was purchased from SafeDinar - but the majority of it was purchased directly from chase bank. I would find it hard to believe that they would not have authenticated the dinar I purchased directly from them in the first place.

Even more of a reason though for us guppies to stick together in the the big ocean to protect ourselves from the sharks. Power in numbers so to speak.
trust is one thing but bankers are the shadiest of all. I wont trust leaving my money with them either - ont the spot (no ticki - no shirti) I dont think I will be too trusting - as a matter of fact I would just go into the bank and teel them to borrow a De La Rue machine and call me when it gets there.

Even odder is if you go to the arabic version of the site and from the menu on right click the ninth link from bottom استفتاء
and it takes you to that page, in english though. Hmmmmm....

Sotaliraq.com actually alot of the links are under construction.

    ODD....VERY ODD!!

defintion of referendum: the principle or practice of referring measures proposed or passed by a legislative body to the vote of the electorate for approval or rejection.

    Translated version of http://sotaliraq.com/

Any thoughts? Or is it just my suspicious mind playing tricks on me again?? If you recall solaliraq is one of the gazettes that the government could possibly use for Official Announcements.

    Cheers!

I'll be married to that stack every step of the way, bro. And I'll be waiting for the Honeymoon!!!
MunnyBaggs you are missing the point here....Mike Brown asked WHY people were photocopying their dinars...so I explained the purpose behind it to him.
I DO think it's a good idea as it establishes proof of ownership but should not be the only form of precaution taken. It is a means of CYA in the event someone tries to con you with switched notes, etc.
I DO NOT recommend giving it to anyone else either.

Obviously you have a LOT of catching up to do concerning this investment. Any infrastructure news that is good concerns the IQD value. It may not be as big a part of the equation as security or GDP, but it is vital the Iraqis rebuild their electric and water systems ASAP. You're not helping the cause by whining about people who are trying to provide good information.
