    Darn shame.
There are now a fair number of somewhat conservative liberals in the house and senate. I don't think things will change very much as America seems to be waking up. Took a while!! I think the parties are about to undergo some streamlining! The dems have no big change planned for Irag. It seems nobody in America has been able to find out what their plan really is. Now the ball is in their court. Let's see what happens. As Neno said this could be a really good thing. For sure the Iraq's, at least some of them know what is going on. Remember they all have satellite dishs and some of their favorite shows are Oprah and DR.Phil. Neno-move this where you will.

Exclamation Houston We Have A Major Problem!!!!!!!!!

Iraq lawmakers extend state of emergency

Lawmakers present for a closed-door meeting attended by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki voted unanimously to extend the emergency measures, said legislators Ammar Touama and Kamal al-Saidi.

In the final days before Tuesday's midterm election, President Bush dispatched two top officials to Iraq in a bid to pressure al-Maliki to quickly disband Shiite militia groups and death squads that have killed thousands of Sunni Muslims.

National Intelligence Director John Negroponte was rebuffed by al-Maliki, however, when he demanded the Iraqi leader disband militias and wipe out death squads this year.

A top aide to al-Maliki aide, who refused to allow use of his name because of the sensitive nature of the information, told The Associated Press the prime minister flatly refused and said the task could not be taken up until next year.

Al-Maliki's refusal to act against the militias has caused deepening anger among Sunni politicians who took enormous risks in joining the political process.

Sunni lawmaker Salim Abdullah said the Iraqi Accordance Front bloc had sent messages to other political groups warning that if there is no balance and the militias are not dissolved "we will withdraw from the government."

"We are under political pressure, and if these demands are not met we will abandon politics," Abdullah said. "And this will leave us with only one alternative, which is carrying arms, and then it will be civil war. And we are against the civil war."

What concerns me most is, with control of both the House and the Senate, the Dems may be after payback and stonewall Bush for the next 2 years with hearings, investigations and total chaos. We will soon see if they are in Washington to take care of the American People or their own petty interests.

Did anyone happen to watch C-SPAN this afternoon when they had a guy on from the Natl. Security Agency for Saudi Arabia? They had done a year long study about the situation in Iraq. He was sort of giving a press conference about this study... In a nutshell, he said things are in dire straits over there, and major things had to happen right away in order to save Iraq from falling into 3 different countries...i.e Kurdistan. He mainly talked about the influence Iran was with the insurgency and named about 3 or 4 different factions of these groups. He said that Saudi Arabia has been working with the US to try to get Iran to the table to try and influence these insurgents from monkey-wrenching everything...Also mentioned they knew of 3 or 4 key leaders from Al Qaeda that were operating there. It didn't sound too promising, although, he did say that King Faud has promised to forgive ALL of Iraq's debt. And noted that Saudi Arabia has been the largest debtor to Iraq... I guess that was about it.
The news conference was dated OCT. 30th... I didn't get to see the whole program, just the Natl. Security guy... but they had alot of other big wigs speaking too.
