Post Government of Kurdistan allocates 600 thousand dollars for establishing a hotel

    09 November 2006 (Iraq Directory)

The District Commissioner of Halabcha stated, last Monday, that a four-star hotel is being initiated in the city and the government of Kurdistan allocated (600) thousand dollars to implement it.

The District Commissioner, Fu'ad Salih Ridha, said that the hotel "will be built at the entrance of the city, on an area of five thousand square meters". He anticipated the completion of the hotel in the middle of next year.

However, many of the people at Halabcha demonstrated, in the middle of this year, against the bad vital services in the judiciary (83 km south-east of Sulaymaniyah) which was exposed to chemical bombardment by the previous regime in (1988), and thousands of people were killed according to the Kurdish statistics.

Thanx. I guess the timeline of 30 days was not implemented with this law

Has anyone found out anything about the 30 days automatically enactment?

has there been an article or is it just assumptions and why 30 days?

The pension law in Iraq is also on the chopping block. In November 2005, Iraq passed a new pension law which was never implemented. This law, if implemented, would permit an employee to retire at age 50 if he / she had 25 years of employment history. The maximum pension would have been 80 percent of the worker’s final salary at the time of retirement. Under the strictures of the I.M.F., Iraq is to “reform” the pension law by the end of September 2006.

    What happened to this law?

    ……………………

And I still like reading this..

“The ongoing insurgency and shortages of goods, as well as supply disruptions generally in the non-oil economy, will continue to put upward pressure on prices. But it remains important that the C.B.I. [Central Bank of Iraq] take decisive measures to contain it before inflationary expectations become entrenched, either by an effective tightening of monetary conditions and / or by exchange rate action. The C.B.I. will need to tighten monetary conditions further if inflation does not start to come down soon. The government can help by keeping public sector wages and pensions in line with the absorptive capacity of the small, albeit growing, non-oil economy, and by making every effort to prevent supply bottlenecks (especially in the petroleum product market) from destabilizing prices further.”

Just two snipits from the article

    Interesting,

Yes, there are still thousands of farms still in private hands, even some which were not subsidized by the government to save them over the years. (g) It seems like everytime gov. gets involved, it ends up costing us more. Just look at the BIG OIL industry which are also subsidized while realizing the highest profits in history, and believe me, this is costing us BIG TIME over the long term.

    Good luck to all, Mike

I realize there are still small family farms left here in the good ol USA. My family has been farming since the early 1900's in South East Texas. We have been farming less and less as the years go by though. My family has just about stopped all together and started selling off the land that has been in my family for so long. It is just sad.

Under the former de-Baathification protocols, 10,302 senior party members had been listed for dismissal. The draft law, however, includes the names of just 1,500 Baath party members, said Ali al-Lami, the commission's executive director. Those not reinstated would receive pensions, he told the AP.

There are many senior party members that will be receiving pensions. Perhaps the reinstatement of some senior members and pensions going out to the others has been under consideration for some time pending the outcome of Sadam's trial. One would think that these members receiving the 80% of their final salary would most definately like to receive that pension at the rate of exchange at that time. Perhaps that is the reason for the delay of enacting the law. JMO

    Translated version of http://www.iraqipresidency.net/news_detial.php?language=arabic&id=3480&type=news

I thought their budget was already done $39 billion!! Reading this I would think that the budget wasn´t ready yet.

Could it be that this had to be completed first and that the completion of the budget delayed everything and that now the budget is ready we can see our RV?

I am not an expert on this, just a thought!
