I'm right there with you...but isn't it possible that the delay was due to what they stated? Taking measures to try and prevent fraud? I know it seems ridiculous to try and prevent fraud for $7 but not out of the realm of possibility.

BTW...

In terms of banks open and banks closed...

My one primary bank is a credit union, they are closed...
But I have seen 2 of the local branches of First Citizen open and Southern Community bank and trust...

So, some are open but some are not...

Imagine if someone got a hold of someones elses $7 check, and forged the name on it giving him a total of $14. It would be total chaos. <--- me being silly, but really imagine if the checks were really worth something like $10,000. Then fraud would be a great concern, and I could understand a delay until they got it all organized so that people were not stealing others checks and cashing them in, or making false checks.
