Thanks H2O, I guess I'm worried that they won't have the funding to support a revalue of 1 to 1 if they are giving out 270 billion dinars. On the other hand, if they give out the 10,000 dinars without a reval, I believe the Iraqi citizens will make sure that Sadamn has company when he's flying like a kite.

once again, the banks WILL NOT CASH IN THE ENTIRE CHECK AT ONCE. THEY WILL REQUIRE DEPOSITS TO BE MADE. STIPULATIONS I BELIEVE THE ARTICLE STATED.

ONLY the state run banks, that are backed by the cbi reserves, are handing out the dinar al rafidian and al rasheed i believe it is.

Why can't it happen? Someone posted awhile back that only 20% of the Kuwait population actually work. The rest just live off the oil dividends which were stated to be around $40,000 a year. If Kuwait can do it, certainly Iraq can also IMO.

Just got back from Chase, S side OKC, same place I've been going to. Told the teller I needed 2 Mil Iraq Dinar. Mgr was sitting behind her and said they don't do that anymore. I asked if she was sure-I was there last week and they still were. She said no-"it's too risky" (?). She checked with another employee who also said they can't/don't do it anymore. Too risky. She then called her "assistant". She asked if it was the blond haired guy from **** co. Mgr said yes- assistant on the phone said it's all good-go ahead.
They then charged me 1253.00 for 2 mill. You know what I'm thinkin. They finally discovered they were selling at the buy rate and had to re-do the transaction. 764/mill. Said may not be in until Tues.
I hope like hell my transaction is cxld and they give me my money back on Monday.

BTW- I did breakdown Wednesday, bought a bottle of Champagne and have it chilled and ready.

yep .......and iraq is looking to do the same to keep the peace there or try to. each iraqi will get a cut of the oil no matter where they live, hence this very well might be the first one. Have to keep up with the Jone's you know and as the dinar goes up and they sell more oil so will their dividend

The handouts are going to IRaqis. Whether there's a reval or not this is good for IRaq. And if there's a reval, at whatever amount, it doesn't matter. It's good for Iraq. All these IQD issued will fuel Iraq's local economy. Folks will spend it, businesses will prosper/profit, as a result, businesses will expand, and will ultimately result in lower unemployment. Like I said it's a cause and effect. It has to start from somewhere/something at some time. Just like in post WWII Germany. History tends to repeat itself.


Plus: Iraq has the tons of oil. It will get whatever exchange rate it wants. Period. You can disagree with it, jump up and down and fume about it, but the fact is Iraq will get whatever exchange rate it wants because they have billions of barrels of oil to back it up, oil that the entire world needs. End of story.

I just got back from Chase Bank. I went in and the teller that usually helps me was already to key in the amount that I requested and someone came by and said they were notified this week that they can no longer sell the Iraqi Dinar. I asked why and after she asked a few others that didn't know, the manager walked by and when she asked him why they can't sell anymore he casually said..."that's because it's probably going on the market". She was sorry she couldn't help me and I said NO PROBLEM...that's best news you could have given me!

I just got back too. I have placed an order for 2 mil with no problems. I guess it depends on the branch. So, who knows, maybe every branch has its own policy or what?

DUBAI (AFP) - Al-Qaeda's Iraq chief threatened in an audio message posted on the Internet that the terror network will "blow up the White House."

"We announce today the end of a phase of the jihad (holy war) and the start of a new one... to usher in the project of an Islamic caliphate and restore Islam's glory," Abu Hamza al-Muhajer said in the message.

"We swear we will not rest from our jihad... before blowing up the filthiest house, dubbed the White House," in the course of establishing the caliphate which began with the proclamation of an Islamic state in Iraq, he said.

The authenticity of the message could not be independently confirmed.

"The location chosen by your mujahedeen brethren to set up their state... is but a stepping stone for the leap," Muhajer said, referring to the "Islamic state of Iraq" proclaimed last month.

An alliance of Sunni insurgents headed by the Iraq branch of Al-Qaeda announced the creation of an independent Islamic emirate in Iraq in a video posted on the Internet on October 15, after parliament in Baghdad approved a federal constitution for the war-ravaged country.

In Friday's message, Muhajer said he had mobilized 12,000 fighters for the Islamic state and was grooming 10,000 more.

"I tell the commander of the faithful, the honorable Sheikh Abu Omar al-Baghdadi: I have put 12,000 Al-Qaeda fighters at the disposal of the Islamic state of Iraq," Muhajer said, pledging allegiance to the state's emir.

The Al-Qaeda chief appealed to major Iraqi Sunni insurgent groups, notably the Army of Ansar al-Sunna, the Islamic Army of Iraq and the Mujahedeen's Army, to endorse the self-styled state and pledge allegiance to its emir.

Muhajer slammed US President George W. Bush, gloated over his Republican party's defeat in mid-term elections widely attributed to US involvement in Iraq, and said US forces occupying the country were preparing to cut and run.

"The enemy is now teetering under the blows of the mujahedeen... and preparing to pack up and flee," he said.

"I thank the most stupid and worst president America -- the country of slaves and drugs -- has ever had for giving us this great historic opportunity," said the voice.

"The American people have taken the first step on the right path in order to get out of their impasse and have started to realize the treachery of their president and his subordination to Israel, voting for a measure of reason in the latest elections," Muhajer said.

"I tell (Bush): don't hurry to flee like your defense minister (Donald Rumsfeld, who resigned Wednesday). We have still not quenched our thirst for your blood."

Muhajer also charged that Bush's policies had enabled Shiite Iran to spread its influence in Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries.

White House spokesman Tony Snow declined to comment on the recording.
