It means that .31 NID = $1US.

Divide 1 by .31 and you get 3.22.

Therefore 1 NID = $US 3.22

62 dinar - cents = $2 USD
93 dinar - cents = $3 USD

More good news, they are weeding out fraud which was one of the worst things which impacted the former Saddam regime economy. As you know, the value of the old dinar was in free fall after Kuwait invasion, and it was supported my massive fraud and counterfeiting, much of it Saddam supported, so just imagine when the new government gets a handle on this fraud, economy will continue to get stronger, so everything is coming together just at the right time.

The authorities in the Shiite religious city of Najaf say they have uncovered 424 licenses which holders illegally used to purchase fuel at subsidized prices and resell on the spot market.

Holders had faked papers of ownership of agricultural machinery or small-scale generators entitling them to fuel rations every week.

On close examination, inspectors from the Oil Ministry discovered that the holders had obtained their licenses illegally and were selling their fuel rations at exorbitant rates locally.

“We have cancelled these licenses,” said Abduljabbar al-Isawi, head of the department in charge of the distribution of oil byproducts in Najaf.

Isawi did not say whether any punitive measures were taken against the licenses holders who many blame for the current fuel shortages in the city.

Observers say thousands of such illegal licenses have been issued and the corruption-mired ministry now finds it difficult to tell which license is fake or genuine.

Isawi said the holders of fake licenses in Najaf received “huge quantities” of fuel every week. He did not say how much exactly.

Isawi said fuel shortages were there to stay unless the Oil Ministry ended its corruptive practices.

He said there was a deficit of at least 30 million liters of gasoline in the three provinces in central Iraq apart from Baghdad.

I am alittle confused here. I thought we were hoping for a 1:1 But now it seems to me that a .31NID would be better off. So lets say for me that if the dinar went to .10NID we would be singing in the streets also. Is this correct or am I still in dulution here.

When I think about the .31 to 1 dollar it makes it hard to breathe. I am on this computer all day. I have things to do but don't want to do them. I am waiting for the FEDex man right now. Does anyone know about the meeting next week?
