Yup, we'll just have to wait for the auction results. But, we need to remember that the auctions are just that, auctions. It really doesn't tell the real world market sentiments. The CBI pretty much has control on the exchange rate since they're the only source of dollars and foreign currency inside Iraq. The participating banks have no other choice, but to trade/exchange with the CBI. Like I've posted before, the CBI is showing 1454, but some forex sites, like OANDA is already showing alot higher exchange rate.

    1 Iraqi Dinar = 0.0007183 US Dollar

1 US Dollar (USD) = 1,392.10 Iraqi Dinar (IQD)

    Interbank rate +/- 0%

    This means:
You buy 1 Iraqi Dinar : 0.0007183 US Dollar
You sell 1 Iraqi Dinar : 0.0006590 US Dollar
You buy 1 US Dollar : 1,392.10 Iraqi Dinar
You sell 1 US Dollar : 1,517.40 Iraqi Dinar

Learn about the new Iraqi Dinar
    Median price = 0.0006590 / 0.0007183 (bid/ask)
    Minimum price = 0.0006590 / 0.0007183
    Maximum price = 0.0006590 / 0.0007183

Since I am a local, I called the bank and Heather answered. Said she had not got a lot of calls and of this I am glad because I think it does more harm than good to flood places with calls like this, but I figured this one deserved some verification. Anyways, Heather asked me to hold then came back and said she was transferring me. Next lady that answered, I told her I didnt know why I was transferred but I was a Chase account holder and was intereseted in the rate to purchase Iraq Dinar today. She asked me how much I wanted to buy and I said one million. Told me to hang a sec. She came back and said the rate today to purchase one million dinar would be $764.10. I said thanks.

Seems Heather punched in too many or not enough zero's IMO.

I did, and he looked at all the bills real quick without taking them from the envelope, said thanks , and let me go.
This was on a domestic flight from Seattle to Dallas.... but my concern here is if people try to take their dinars on an international flight .... like to the Caymans or Belize .... and when arriving there, are asked to go into a back room only to have to bribe someone with dinars, or even worse , have them "confiscated" .

When I am on a ship (USNS) that's been overseas we are given customs forms a couple of days before we are to make a US port. We fill them out on our own and turn them into the Purser, who then goes through them with a US customs agent along with our passports when we get into port. It is possible to make substantial purchases overseas (carpets, gold, etc) and not report them. There is no physical inspection.

I wonder what the procedures are when one takes a Carribean cruise? Leave from Florida, and make stops in the Carribean...are there inspections before the ship leaves the US? How about when the ship makes a port call?

Anyone with any experience in this??

    Thanks, Tracy

Might be just a coinkidink (coincidence), but my Citibank Onine site has shown the following at the top of the page for like the past 4 days or so. Been a member with Citibank for like 6 years and never seen that done. Like I said, perhaps just a coinkidink.

Important information… Overnight from midnight on Saturday, November 18 to Sunday morning, November 19, routine maintenance is being performed and the site will be unavailable for several hours. We apologize for any inconvenience.
