With all the speculation that the CBI may not be selling dinars because they are conversely trying to buy back 100's of billions of dinar to reduce the amount in circulation, it begs this question. If the CBI didn't intend to have this much dinar in circulation starting back in 2003, why didn't they just limit the amount the total amount offered for sale to Iraqi banks and / or licensed currency dealers? If this is a dilemma, it appears that the CBI created it, intentionally or not. Any thoughts from our banking / securities experts is most appreciated.

I respect your opinion however I have spread the risk a little in cash some in Warka some in ISX. What you have to think about is all these deals and when the world starts to invest in Iraq alot of money will be going through Iraqi Banks thats why most of all my stocks in the ISX are financial ones the way I look at it if its good enough for HSBC and other western banks to be already invested in them its good enough for me.

I looked very deeply into the other options of investing in Iraq. But a number of things kepted me from diving in.

1. I wanted to be able to get out as fast as possible if the need arises.
2. With the rampid corruption of the GOI and the stealing of so much of the oil, I am hesitent to go further into a system which could be next for criminal activities.
3. And lastly, I don't have to have my funds under control of another to make a huge gain in this investment. I have all I need in my control to weather this out. To me this is not like our normal investment strategy where we have to fork over some dough in the hopes our stock market will make it a bigger peice of dough. This is just between us and the cbi. It can't get anymore streamlined than that. And thats all thats required.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand the path that some are taking and I understand why. More power to you. I hope it hits for ya. My tac on that was that I bought enough dinar that I don't require additional sources of return. I had one guy over at the Brand X forum tell me that I needed to hedge my bets by investing through Warka and the ISX. All I did was ask him "what do you think is going to happen to Warka and the ISX if there is no reval and the GOI goes down the crapper?" We are all in the same boat. Warka and the ISX can't protect you from that.

It is not a dilema or a mistake on their part, it is all part of a plan- they originally sold that much dinar to fund themselves with the dollars that it was bought with. The buyback is another phase of the plan.( I am no banking or securities expert this is JMHO.) Thanks

In my opinion, they initially put 4.5 trillion back into circulation during the exchange.
