then itll repeg down twice over a month, to end up around .37, where in all common sense it belongs, after everyone in the know, making the rules, have all cased in personally, to perhaps float back up to 1:1 over a year and a half, or perhaps devalue due to wars etc prob 50 50 chance on that one.
that depends on US foreign policy, doesnt it? itll all fall apart if they leave too abruptly, and withought the right structure in place in iraq, thats 4 sure.

My source also says .30 to .40. Anything much less is ludicrous because we could by out all of the Iraqi companies for a song when trading starts.

My personal understanding of how exchange rate will effect foreign investment would lead me to expect a rate in that 30 cent range too.

A high peg (above 1 to 1) would actually discourage foreign investment as it would inflate prices as seen from outside iraq.

Whereas a very low rate (like 6 cents) would flood the market with foreign buyers but not really net the country any significant gains as they would be giving away the product (companies in the case of the stock exchange).

Isn't this a great rollercoaster of a ride?! What will we do once it pegs?! LOL.

I'm not buying the latest rumours, (I don't buy any of them) the guy who's coming out with it has apparently a history of false info. Don't be downbeat, it could still well be a 1:1 peg.

Take it for what it is, just what I'm hearing. Not as much as we wanted but hey a good return and as it will be on a float it will very easily rise in time. At this rate I'd cash in a couple of million and sit on the rest.

We'll see if this info is correct firstly to see if the announcement of the laws comes next week.

I think the worst part is the zero lopping! Exactly what we were worried about earlier... The rate, well, it will probably rise over time.
But I see that you Adster, in a later post, say that this source is not very reliable so let's hope it's wrong!
And OSW, you still think it's 30-40 cents...is that with all the zeroes intact?

BTW, how can one million dinar be 68.5K with that rate? I get it to be 685$...because first you have 1000 000, then lop off two zeroes= 10 000.
And 10 000 by .0685 is 685, isn't it?

But then it would be worth LESS than what we paid for it!!!

u right Flygirl...it is quiet today.....maybe the quiet b4 the storm i hope....lol....have'nt heard any more rumors....hoping it pegs soon....at any rate will b good....i would take 30 or 40 cents to the dollar right now....cash a few in and wait for it to rise.....GO DINARS....Pat
