Government decided allocates trillion and 480 billion dinars to support unemployed and help them to face requirements of living, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mahmood Sheikh Radhi said.

He added that Finance Ministry confirmed this sum at its budget of 2007 and that would be an important motive to provide enough revenues for many of unemployed who seek for work to help their families. Worth mentioning that Ministry of Labor adopted project of social protection net to support poor families and other projects aims to decrease unemployment.

On the other hand politicians and researchers think that attracting unemployed to work would help at decreasing violence because terrorist groups tempt unemployed by money to occur its plans.

Baghdad, Sadr city indefinitely sealed off

    POL-IRAQ-ATTACK-BAGHDAD

BAGHDAD, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- Barely a day after some 150 Iraqis perished and 250 injured in sectarian violence, specifically from bomb attacks in Sadr City near Baghdad, the authorities ordered a curfew on Baghdad vehiclular traffic and closed its exits and airport.

The Political Wing of the National Security Council is to meet on Friday to discuss the fall-out from Thursday's explosions in Sadr City and ways of reaching radical solutions to the current political unrest, Iraqi President Jalal Talbani said in a press conference.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki condemned the bomb attack and ordered the bodies of the dead moved to the holy city of Nejef in southern Iraq.

Talbani, his deputy Tareq Al-Hashimi and majority leader Abdel-Aziz Al-Hakim also condemned the attacks and called for re-assessing the current security measures in order to avert such serious loss of life in future.

Religious clerics also made similar calls with the Shiite religious authority Ali Al-Sistani and Muqtada Al-Sadr calling for self-restraint.

However, Sadr accused the Baathists and Americans of involvement in the attacks.

More condemnations of the attacks came from the Sunni religious authorities, who called for "not slipping into an all-out sectarian strife." At latest reports, Baghdad streets were calm as law and order forces continued to patrol the outlying areas and closing all traffic coming into the city (of Baghdad.) In a related development, Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa condemned the attacks and cautioned against not taking enough measures to avoid such massacres in future.

In a statement he issued, Moussa called for "denying the perpetrators of such massacres the chance of repeating them in future." He called for safeguarding Iraq's national unity and political stability.

He also called on Iraq's neighbors to meet as soon as possible to assess the situation in light of the latest developments.

Shiites burn Sunnis alive, torch buildings near Iraqi army post

    Updated 11/24/2006 10:57 AM ET

BAGHDAD (AP) — Revenge-seeking Shiite militiamen grabbed six Sunnis as they left Friday worship services, doused them with kerosene and burned them alive near an Iraqi army post. The soldiers did not intervene, police Capt. Jamil Hussein said.

The savage revenge attack for Thursday's slaughter of 215 people in the Shiite Sadr City slum occurred as members of the Mahdi Army militia burned four mosques and several homes while killing 12 other Sunni residents in the once-mixed Hurriyah neighborhood, Hussein said.

Gunmen loyal to radical anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr began taking over the neighborhood this summer and a majority of its Sunni residents already had fled.

The militiamen attacked and burned the Ahbab al-Mustafa, Nidaa Allah, al-Muhaimin and al-Qaqaqa mosques in the rampage that did not end until American forces arrived, Hussein said.

The gunmen attack with rocket-propelled grenades, heavy machine guns and automatic rifles. Residents said militiamen prevented them from entering burned structures to take away the bodies of victims.

The Shiite-dominated police and Iraqi military in the area stood by, both residents and Hussein said.

Later Friday, militiamen raided al-Samarraie Sunni mosque in the el-Amel district and killed two guards, police 1st. Lt. Maitham Abdul-Razaq said. Two other Sunni mosques in west Baghad also were attacked, police said.
