WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi forces will be able to take responsibility of security in the country by June 2007, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said in an interview by ABC on Thursday.
"I cannot answer on behalf of the U.S. administration but I can tell you that from our side our forces will be ready by June 2007," Maliki told ABC television after meeting U.S. President George W. Bush on Thursday in Jordan.

Maliki made the remarks in answering a question about whether U.S. troops could start withdrawing at that time.

Also on Thursday, U.S. national security advisor Stephen Hadley was reported to have told reporters that Bush will make a decision on Iraq policy in "weeks rather than months."

"I think probably it's going to be weeks rather than months. It's going to be when the president is comfortable," Hadley told reporters on Air Force One.

AMMAN, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Thursday voiced his government's determination to confront extremists in the war-torn country to achieve a final victory.

Maliki made the remarks in a press statement before his departure after a two-day visit to Jordan, where he held talks with U.S. President George W. Bush on ways to combating violence in Iraq.

In the statement, Maliki pledged that his government was keen to assume direct security responsibilities to continue its role in confronting terrorist organizations in Iraq.

"We do not have Iraqi forces that are ready to assume responsibility in 24 hours and we hope to have such forces to fight terrorism," said Maliki.

Once the Iraqi forces are ready, they will assume responsibilities in Iraqi cities, he added.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Maliki held two-and-half-hour talks with Bush, which was dedicated on the latest development and security situation in Iraq.

After the meeting, Bush pledged at a joint press conference with Maliki that his country would give the Iraqi government more help in securing the security in the country.

CP Technically it's Nov 30th all the way until you get past midnight in Hawaii. If you lived there you could still claim the 30th as the RV date couldn't you? Sooooooo , you have until 5:01 am est tomorrow morning to "technically" be the 1st of December. Keep your chin, I'm still pulling for you !!

I have to say this is pretty interesting. Wouldn't this be one great Christmas! If they don't revalue now with this FIL the iraqi stock market will get overflowed with foreign investors. I still don't see how they can do this overnight, but I am here for the ride! Best part in 3 years so far is TODAY!!

Woooooo'freakin'hooooooo! All day today I have been a little down. Hubby will be offically laid off at midnight Saturday. Would love to be able to tell him that it doesn't matter, that we are going to be o.k. Also, my neighbors went to see a bankruptcy lawyer today. I want to help them out so bad! They have been so good to us!
