Iraq-Hakim-Update 1Hakim rejects Annan’s call for international conference on Iraq(Adds details)Amman, Dec 2, (VOI) – The head of the Supreme Council of Islamic Revolution in Iraq( SCIRI), Mr. Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim, rejected on SaturdayThe UN secretary general call for an international conference on Iraq describing it as “unacceptable and fully rejected.”Mr. Hakim, head of the largest parliamentary bloc, told reporters before departing the Jordanian capital Amman on Saturday “a conference of this kind is unrealistic, illegitimate and illegal.”“The political process in Iraqi gave a birth to the Iraqi parliament and government and it is illogical for the Iraqis to accept an international conference for deciding their future,” Mr. Hakim said.Head of the Unified Iraqi Coalition (UIC) told the news conference “the only solution is the one that could be worked out in Baghdad and all conference elsewhere would be only to lend support to the Iraqi government and the political process.”The present government in Iraq, Hakim pointed out, “is the strongest in the Middle East region in terms of the grounds it has” calling upon Arab and Islamic states to help the national reconciliation and political process.”Early this week, the UN Secretary General suggested an international conference to all Iraqi political parties as well as Syria and Iran to discussThe situation in Iraq.Mr. Hakim said “what is going on in Iraq is a political crisis and not a religious, sectarian or even ethnic crisis.”“If Iraqis fought each other, the result will be a grave loss for all the people of Iraq with no exception,” Mr. Hakim told reporters. The democracy, now in place in Iraq, Hakim pointed out, “necessitates to listen to the opinions of the others working for a unified Iraq.”Mr. Hakim who was on a three-day-visit to Jordan where he met King Abdullah II and other senior Jordanian officials said “Iraq shall not be a theatre for others to settle down their accounts.”A joint statement was read by the delegation’s spokesman on the visit in the beginning of the news conference. The statement that expressed the Jordanian government’s support to Maliki’s cabinet said “the wealth in Iraq is the property of all the Iraqi people.”“While we do not allow any kind of intervention in Iraq’s internal affairs , we reject all kinds of armed appearances and insist on keeping arms at hands of the state,” the statement added.Mr. Hakim, scheduled to meet President Bush on Monday in Washington, said “we reject a killing based on identity and work to activate the rule of law.”

I found an article last night that I was going to post (got tired and went to bed) but I can't find it now. It was either a CBI, IMF or CPA article? I believe it was dated the early part of '05 but the gest of it was the CBI's concern of all the dinar in spectators hands and whether they could back the dinar when they finally put it on the world market. Their solution was to continue the auctions at a fixed rate for as long as possible and when they felt they could back the r/v they would discontinue them and put it on the world market. But they WERE extremely WORRIED about the spectators! So after this long a period of auctions at a fixed rate...maybe, just maybe they feel they are covered, and away we goooooo!
I'll continue to search for the article...it was very interesting.

    Cheers!

those are called 'fils' and it is believed they will just use the fils they used to use before when the currency was of high enough value since its never been reported they destroyed their fils.

    Voices of Iraq: Iraq-Ban
Posted by: saleem on Saturday, December 02, 2006 - 02:09 PM
Iraq-BanIraqi government bans unlicensed demonstrations Baghdad, Dec 2, (VOI) –The Iraqi minister Jawad al-Bulani banned on Saturday any kind of demonstrations and rallies with no prior permit from his ministry.“The freedom of association and gathering is guaranteed by the constitution but demonstrations and rallies should be organized only if a prior permit was given by the interior ministry,” Mr. Bulani said in a statement received by the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).Granting the permit means “giving the interior ministry an opportunity to take the measures necessary to protect the people participating in such events,” the minister said.A demonstration or a rally without a permit is deemed “illegal and the security forces will firmly deal with such law violations,” the statement added. This is the first time since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003 the Iraqi government asks for getting a prior permit for organizing demonstrations and rallies.

I am sure it is not as this report was written in August. You will notice that the amount in circulation plus this amount in vaults of commercial banks equals exactly the currency issued.

Beckett says that it is unwise to talk about a deadline for withdrawal from Iraq

The British Foreign Minister (Margaret Beckett), "her country supports the government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in control of security and politics in Iraq." She (Beckett) on the sidelines of the International Forum for the Future, which is being held in Jordan for the deployment of reform in the Middle East that it is "unwise to talk about the date or deadline for withdrawal from Iraq." The pronouncements (Beckett) following the publication of a report by the Washington Post newspaper that said a group of independent American experts are preparing recommendations on Iraq would be to withdraw American forces early in 2008.

I believe the report said it was "ratified" by the President. If what you say is correct, then the committee was already formed. It would have had to be in order for the President to ratify it. Right?
    rat·i·fy (răt'ə-fī')
    tr.v., -fied, -fy·ing, -fies.
To approve and give formal sanction to; confirm.

    We're looking for

    en·act (ĕn-ăkt')
    tr.v., -act·ed, -act·ing, -acts.
To make into law: Congress enacted a tax reform bill.
To act (something) out, as on a stage: enacted the part of the parent

The National Investment Committee is in addition to the FIL and in my opinion not yet formed because of the way the announcement states they are seeking the the proper individuals to serve these positions.
