I just hope that ROL Club doesn't have any connection problems for the next week or so because we are going to have to keep checking here to see if any news about an revalue otherwise I would have no idea when to hit my bank for an exchange when the time does come lol.
Adster, you mentioned something about Iraq having the final say for rates over the IMF....Is this a good thing for a possible 'higher' r/v or a not so good thing because Iraq would 'choose' for a 'lower' r/v???? It would be quite amazing if your's and Mike's sources are correct about this investment law being passed or about to be passed. I don't have as much dinar as some of you 'big wigs' have but what I do have will certaintly bless my family and get us all out of debt. I wish each of you success now and in the future!!
Cheers all,
Rob

Foreign forces presence in Iraq cause of insecurity: Rafsanjani
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, June 18, IRNA
Iran-Iraq-Religion
Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said here Sunday that presence of foreign forces in Iraq is a cause of the country's dependence and insecurity in the region.
Rafsanjani made the remark in a meeting with the visiting head of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), Abdul Aziz al-Hakim.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is against any measure leading to insecurity in Iraq.
"Iran will defend and support the Iraqi nation under whatever circumstance. It will continue its constructive role in easing the pains of the Iraqi people at this new juncture," Rafsanjani said.
He cited religion as "the most important factor determining the fate of the Iraqi people," saying, "Presence of ulema in Iraq's political scene will promote people's role and guarantee their national unity and integrity."
He stressed the importance of reinforcing unity among the Iraqi people, adding, "The United States has no option but to delegate the Iraqi affairs to its nation and move in a path based on their will and demands."
Al-Hakim, for his part, stressed the leading role of religious belief among the Iraqi people in administering their country and said religious and ethnic differences in Iraq would bear no fruit.
He strongly condemned efforts to cause insecurity in Iraq and terrorist measures against its defenseless people and added the Iraqi government would severely confront such moves.
The SCIRI head said Iran was a close friend of the Iraqi people and government and added efforts made by the two countries' enemies to cause difference among them were doomed to failure._________________________________________

Gulf states plan monetary council
Central bank governors in the Gulf agreed in principle Tuesday to set up a monetary council as a prelude to establishing a joint central bank, Kuwait's top banker said.
Shaikh Salem Abdul Aziz Al Sabah told the official news agency Kuna the council will start operations in 2008 and will later transform to become the Gulf central bank, a key step needed to launch a single currency.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in Abu Dhabi by the central bank governors of the GCC member states who considered other measures to bring fiscal policies of the six-nation bloc closer before launching a single currency in 2010.
Shaikh Salem also said a committee was formed to study technical details of the proposed currency besides approving a number of key monetary and economic criteria necessary for the monetary union and currency.
The criteria include inflation and interest rates, ratio of annual budget deficit and ratio of public debt to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in addition to reserves, Sheikh Salem said.
The International Monetary Fund has urged GCC states to co-ordinate their fiscal policies, saying that under a centralised monetary policy, fiscal discipline including a reduction in public debt will be crucial.
In their bid for economic integration, the GCC states launched a customs union in 2003, but its full implementation has been delayed to the end of 2007.- Gulf Daily News_________________________________________

Still waiting on confirmation but feel things will happen this week if not by the end of the month. As to rate, I've heard that's what is being settled on now. The Iraqi's are a proud nation and don't want to have the lowest rate in the Arab community. The US have been ready for a peg since last August and are just waiting on the Iraqi government to sort out last minute details with the IMF.
I don't think we'll be disappointed with the rate that's being talked about, Maliki will get things done.:0)Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.

This is goood news!
BAGHDAD (DPA) – Iraq's Oil Ministry announced Sunday an increase in gas and fuel prices for the second time in six months in line with Iraq's commitment to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Iraq has reached a deal with the IMF whereby the latter will write off Iraq's debts in return for certain conditions, including increased fuel prices.
Moatassem Akram, deputy oil minister told al-Mashreq newspaper on Sunday that the increase in the prices of oil products would take effect from Monday.
The price of gas and gasoline will increase one dinar per liter, while oil will increase from 25 dinars to 100 dinars.
'The plan to increase the prices of oil products is one of the conditions of the IMF. This increase won't be the last but there will be more increases,' Akram said.
