A float with the security as it is would not give investors confidence in the stability of the dinar as it could crash overnight in the worst possible scenario. I don't believe they will go down this route and I'm sure they know this, a hard peg makes more sense at least for 6 months to a year, maybe then they will float it....

MENAFN) The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity is in the process of setting up several electrical projects in Kirkuk; one of which is the establishment of three stations to improve electricity in the city, costing three million dollars.

An official said that the three electric power stations being worked on include Imam Qasim, Al-Wasti and Mansuriyah, costing $ 1 million each, with a production capacity of 31, 5 megawatts.. He pointed out that these stations are in their final stages and will be operated soon.

He explained that these stations will not reduce the hours of power cutoffs or increase it but will improve the quality of electric power.

It is worth mentioning that the share of Kirkuk from the general funding, this year, for electric power is about 11% from the northern region, and that this ratio will increase if the generated amount of power increases.

Chairman of the House confirms that the draft national reconciliation has failed

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will meet with the Dutch Ambassador and looking for international efforts to support the political process in Iraq.


He met with Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Planning and Mr. bilateral relations, Lubaid Abbawi, announced with the Dutch Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Robert Brenks.

It was discussed during the meeting the results of the visit of Mr. Nouri Al-Maliki the Prime Minister of Oman and his meeting with President George Bush, as well as visiting Eminence, Mr. Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, head of the United Iraqi Alliance to Washington and his meeting with President Bush at the White House.

Totally agree. here is a perfect example from the US government bureau of engraving speaking of former US denominations not in print since 1945:

Currency notes of denominations above $100 are not available from the Department of the Treasury, the Federal Reserve System, or the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. On July 14, 1969, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve System announced that currency notes in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 would be discontinued immediately due to lack of use. Although they were issued until 1969, they were last printed in 1945.

These notes are legal tender and may be found in circulation today; however, most notes still in circulation are probably in the hands of private numismatic dealers and collectors.

I just wanted to let you know ...Yesterday I was watching the Jim Lehrnan ( I know I mispelled it) interview with two congressmen that were from the Iraqi Group report that came out yesterday...

While they were discussing about their recommendations to Bush, there were three points that they mainly were focusing on.
1. Iraqi National Reconciliation,
2. Asking Iran and Israel to help in Iraq,
and 3. Milestones that US should impose to Iraqi gov in order to have the american troops and US continue helping the Iraqi gov

Now, it became interesting when Lehrer asked: " What kind of milestones are you talking about?"

One of congressmen replied:
" For example - one of them is the new oil law ( HCL). We believe that this can be passed in december and we would not recommend it as a milestone if we would not believe that it is possible" .

So, there....that was ONE of the "milestones" ....
We know that Bush will not follow ALL the reccomendations, but I can bet he will follow this one...and pretty fast...
